OMG. Names!

Boring, I know! But we decided the name we picked didn't fit. It was Chester Douglas. DH wasn't sold on Chester, I wasn't sold on Douglas. I am 11 days from my edd and the kid is nameless.

ACK!! Help! lol!

DD was nameless till after she was born, but we didn't even have any names on a list. NOTHING.

I am 7 days from my EDD and so far we have one name we both can tolerate. ONE! thankfully its sort of unisex. . .

But I guess we will figure out, right?

And for the record, I love the name Chester!

I suppose I can always try names out for a couple weeks and see what happens.

When we finally named dd it was morel ike, "Yeah, I guess. It's ok." LOL! A week later I had to ask the mw how we spelled her middle name! I couldn't remember.

DH and I just decided on a boy's name. Until about Tuesday, the frontrunner for a boy's name was Hieronymus. Nobody liked it but us. We've now picked a name that is equally esoteric, but slightly more mainstream-sounding.

(Nak on iPhone - excuse any weird errors!)

Well at least you still have 11 days! Our little guy is two days old now and has been nameless. DH and I have officially concluded on his first name now but are still uncertain on the mn. We have one pretty good idea but the others all feel totally random. The mws said we have five days to pick a name tho friends have taken longer! My goal was three and I think we'll make it. Definitely better to take your time and have a name that's just right!

Well, we have a couple girl's names that we are hoping one will fit, one in particular is really speaking to me. But the middle name...?????? And as for boy's names..... nada. Zip. Zilch.

No solid girl choice here, which is what happened with dd too. We had her name settled by day 2.

DH named this baby but if I had my choice for a boy I would have picked Kingston or Clinton and if I had a girl I would pick Frankie or Caroline.

I FINALLY got DH to discuss names last weekend, when we narrowed it down to a few.

Apparently he thought we decided on two, because when a friend asked about it, he spouted off two names.

Unfortunately, neither of those was really high on my list. I don't hate 'em, but they don't really sing to me either. They're both pretty mainstream/normal names, though neither is ultra-popular right now.

Our DD has a somewhat unusual name that has a fairly normal nickname, and an old, but unusual middle name.

The name that's really calling to me is unisex, but more unusual for a girl than for a boy.

Then I was thinking we could go with a 'normal' middle name for a girl in case she decides she hates her first name, and an unusual (but family-based) middle name for a boy.

Argh!!! I don't know. We SO should have been discussing this in greater depth earlier.

I guess we are going to have to name this little boy Wilson or William since DS has been calling him Willy! I love Willy and I called him that one time joking. DS picked up on it and now that is what he calls him or baby brother. I think it is cute anyway and it helps DS1 to be involved.. since he was the final deciding factor!

We were set on one of two names and then last week I decided I didn't like either one. We've found one other we like, our older kids like and the shortened version and Hebrew pronunciation we all like. Still, I don't know. This is the first time this has happened to us.

Our girl name is the same it's been for several months, but I just can't settle on a boy's name. I went over my list and found one I think might work, but I have to ask the hubby what he thinks.

awwww, poo....

So, my convoluted comment above got me thinking about the name thing pretty hard, and I was all excited because I thought I'd settled on the name combos that really made me happy.

Until I was in bed later and it occurred to me that the initials on those name combos are totally, utterly unacceptable.

S.H.T.

argh.

Yeah, we liked Clark Oliver C- but his initials would be COC. Not much better than Chester the Molester!

I suggested to my mother (a protestant minister) that we name a boy Zeus, so that if the kids were calling him at school they'd be saying 'Hey, Zeus!' (say it out loud) She wasn't amused.

DH and I both have AZ as our initials, so we said we didn't want any A names (though our girls name is spelled with an A, it's not pronounced that way). We also said the kid couldn't be named the same as any current living relative. And I didn't want to give the kid a name starting with Z.

At this point, everyone loves our girl name, and some people are still confused by our boy's name but they can suck it.

Our friend has a son named Chance, thought that was interesting.
