Walmart good for something - free boxes!

My husband has managed to get more than 40 great boxes by going to walmart at around 6 am on Sat and Sun. We are moving and haven't had to buy a single box! Yipee! All other places we called crushed them right away and wouldn't give us any.

i'm surprised at that! i thought that they returned them for credit. (i've seen boxes that say something to the effect of "this box is worth 80 cents to the company."

most stores wont give away their boxes because they get credit for them. try big lots or a grocery outlet (like a scratch n dent, almost expired grocery store).

Most of the walmart boxes get returned but they let you walk through the store and take the ones that aren't.

Our local liquor stores provide free boxes...

actually, most of the wal-mart boxes are crushed and recycled.

as in 99% of them...VERY few say "return to store #X for credit".

our wal-mart brings in about $3000 or more per month from recycling, between the boxes and the plastic and paper. however, as a customer courtesy...they'll happily give boxes to those that are moving.

best thing to do is to call and ask for management...and have the over-nighters save them.

I love to use the liquor store boxes for when I move. They're usually really heavy duty so they're great for books, dishes, anything heavy. But the ones around here charge you .10 cents a box!
