Help, I'm strictly breasfeeding and my 5 week old baby hasn't pooped in 4 1/2 days? She got the sniffles, don't know if that has anything to do with it. Never had this problem with any of my other children while breastfeeding. She's passing gas and peeing alot, so I know she's getting plenty of milk. Just seems odd to me, how can I get her to poop?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

this is around the time many babes change up there stooling I personally wouldn't worry yet easier said than done I know we worry it's our job but breatmilk is very ''useable'' and some babies are very efficient at using it up with little waste (hope that made sense) or some go a LOT when they do finally go I wouldn't intervene yet ! if the poo is hard when it comes then you can worry!

As long as you're having plenty of wet dipes, and your baby is gaining weight fine, then don't worry. It's normal for breastfed babies to sometimes go as long as a week between poops. But that is as long as the weight gain and pee dipes are ok!

My now three-month-old wasn't a regular pooper at all the first few months. I, too, thought it was strange for a newborn breastfed baby. When we were home visiting family when she was 10 weeks old, my brother-in-law (a chiropractor) made a few small adjustments (she was a very gentle home birth, so nothing way out of whack) and she has pooped several times a day ever since! Coincidence? Maybe. But, she is much happier and no more worrying on mama's part. Might be worth a try!

Not to worry. We had a Mom at our BF support group who's little one didn't poop for 21 days!
