Hi everyone! I feel like I should more officially introduce myself but I am fairly new to MDC and I just found out there were due date circles here via the New Posts button! So, I am late to the party at 21 weeks pregnant, lol.
It seems that MDC mamas are pretty creative so I am hoping you can help. We are having a son and his first name will be Gabriel, which is set in stone. We've had the name picked since we were pregnant with our DD.
The issue is the middle name. My family lost my 5 year old niece in July. If this baby had been a girl her name would have been used as the middle name to honor her and my sister. We are now trying to come up with something that would still honor her but it is much harder now being that this baby is very much a boy.
There are two routes I've figured I could go with this:
1) She loved nature and wild creatures and flowers and things to almost an obsessive extent. Her ashes were spread in the woods at the top of her favorite waterfall in Virginia. We have also felt like she has come to all of us through frogs and images of frogs in the last two months. I am trying to find some sort of nature connection for a name without it being too "hippie" (nothing wrong with hippie, unusual names but they aren't my speed, kwim?). The only name I can think of that would work that I like is Sylvan. But my husband keeps saying, "like Sylvan Learning Centers?"
: So any suggestions of nature type names that work with Gabriel would be appreciated.
2) The second idea has to do with stars, celestial bodies and the sky. The very young children in the family have been told that my niece is now a bright, shiny star in the heavens. The children have actually been calling her "Hannah Star" now. The only male name that I can find that means "little star" is Sterling. Gabriel Sterling seems sort of like a soap opera name to me, though. Any suggestions in this area would be appreciated.
TIA!
