What does amniotic fluid smell like?

My panty liners have been getting pretty soaked lately, so this afternoon I smelled one, and it smelled like salt water. I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow (regular one) and I'm going to bring it up, but I was just curious what amniotic fluid smelled like. I don't think my crotch is sweating that much (I hope not!) which was the suggestion dh gave for the salty smelling stuff, but I am taking comfort in the fact it didn't smell like pee (how embarrassing!) or smell funky, so I'm sure everything is going pretty good down there.

things the smell of amniotic fluid reminds me of:

very mild chlorine
sex

it's a very distinct smell, IMO

My crotch sweats alot at this stage of pregnancy. Sorry, I know, tmi.

It's a weird smell - once you smell it, you will know it for life. I can't really describe it though - it smells like amniotic fluid!

it is unmistakable once you smell it.
Kind of sweet and humid and earthy.... if humid has a smell... its amniotic fluid
