What is the lowest?
My highest is my rugby article. Published about 24 hours after the game (even though I submitted it within minutes) for no upfront as news. It has 844 PVs.

My lowest is the Thrasher's piece, but I think it was only up for about 24 hours before the update. It has 30 views. After that my article about signs that your children are ready to share a bedroom has 46 (but interestingly, the companion pieces about three reasons they should and three reasons they shouldn't are both in the hundreds).

My average page views per article is 133.

However, I think it's important that we remember not to compare ourselves to one another here, but to support one another here. I sometimes forget this. I might not have as high of page views as some of you, but I still love the writing, get avg. upfronts, and am making money doing something that I love. What more is there, really?

my highest was my UP article (well over 2000)
lowest was a product review for catnip tincture by herbs for kids at 15!

my upfront payment is only $1 difference between the two.
I don't concentrate on PV's at all though! :

I wasn't sure if you were indicating that the pp question didn't belong here or were inferring that is unsupportive on the whole to discuss this topic. Perhaps you can clarify, Kelly. I do understand for those who feel bad when they read about others PVs that you are definitely right, but I don't think the question itself was unsupportive. I realize that may not be what you meant anyway, but wasn't sure when I read it.

Depending on how you look at it, it can be supportive in discussing it. Some may be spurred on by others progress rather than depressed by it, KWIM? Plus it gives us a clearer picture of what is possible at AC. We can also use the information to learn from one another - what is she doing that I could just as easily do to improve my performance. I am anxious and hopeful that Heather will weigh in on this, as I assume she will be able to encourage me in what I can expect from PV. I simply say this because I was concerned the comment might stifle the conversation on the topic, of which I was hoping to learn more. I am fairly new to AC and have only just begun to focus on ways that improve PV. Looking for more ideas.

I should mention I had a similar conversation with others at another promotional site and many suggested there is advantages to PV if you subscribe to people (and let them know that you did) rather than just add to favorites. People are more likely to reciprocate and sub to you, and are more likely to read your work if they have an additional reminder that you have been published. Just an FYI if anyone else is looking for ways to improve PV.

ADDING: I should also apologize if the responses do bother anyone. I never even considered the fact that it could make someone feel badly, and that was not my intention in responding so quickly. I was curious and was looking at it from the standpoint that it would help me at AC.

Jenny, my comment was just so that Erika didn't worry too much about her own page views compared to everyone else's. It can be helpful to see what others do and how they are doing and you are right, it can spur ideas, etc. I just meant that we shouldn't be thinking, "Oh man, so and so got 1000 page views the last update and I only got 100". I have been trying to focus on that myself, and thought others might benefit from the reminder too.

Sorry to anyone who was unclear about my comment. It made sense in my head when I wrote it out!

PS: I wasn't offended by your quick response at all. I posted my response as well! I just think it's hard for us to compare our articles and their performance. In some ways, it's like apples and oranges, kwim?

Gotcha and ITA. I am glad we could clarify that.

I submitted Orin's birth story and the story of our hospital visit. They declined the birth story saying it wasn't searchable content (people search for birth stories ALL the time) and that they don't pay for memoirs (even though many stories about my life have been published because the personal experience is educational). They accepted the hospital story, but made a low offer. I don't see why they'd accept one and not the other, but...whatever...

Once you bookmark you don't need to do anything else.

My highest PVs are, unfortunately, on my natural abortion article detailing herbal induction of miscarriage. Over 7K hits on that one. That makes me sad. :/ My lowest-performing, besides the poetry, is "The important of properly testing medication" which is one of my early pieces that was actually a blog entry originally. So my lowest-performing -real- article was in my homebirth series, addressing whether or not you can be too young or old to homebirth.

Kelly, I wasn't asking it in a way to compare myself to anyone or anything like that.

I just had a general question for the group. I normally don't look at my page views, but I did the other day and found out that the quickest article that I've ever done is what was getting me paid! It has my highest page views!

Sorry if I came off that way or if this post was offensive!

Not at all, Erika! I just was worried about you and didn't want you to compare yourself! I think it's great for us all to ask and hear, but I know you've expressed some concern about your page views and offers before, and just didn't want you to compare and worry (although...what do I know...I'm new myself!).
