Writing at Associated Content **October Edition** - Page 5

Hey, I am back to work today for the first time in about a month. I've been promoting most of the day, but I'm also finally getting around to reviewing everyone's recent work. I noticed there's a LOT of new people to the thread lately, and I wanted to send an open invitation to all of you to PM me your CP link. I'll read, comment, & rate your articles if you just send me your link. If you want mine, just ask, and I'll PM it to you.

OT: How are you doing, Heather? How's Orin? PM me, if you don't think it suits the thread!

Doing well here, avg. about $4 an article, but making up for it in PVs now! I am still loving the writing, and worrying less about the upfront, esp, since I think AC is going to get rid of them within the next year based on research into their business profile. I also just submitted a piece yesterday that I am REALLY pleased with..I'll let everyone know when it publishes. I love it!

I have 5/20 articles done towards my goal for the month. I want to learn more/spend more time on promoting as well.

Im tired and busy -- back to normal, really, except for 5lbs. Orin is hungry, sleepy, and clingy -- a normal, healthy newborn!

Same here. Sounds like this has happened to a LOT of people on the forum, as well. Michy lost something like 22,000 page views. My bet is that since the PV is still in beta testing, there were errors last time that were corrected for this time (maybe the glitch with the software is even why we'd gone so long before the last update, kwim?). I thought I lost 1300, but just did the math and realized I lost 1500. I'm bummed. However, I still stayed at clout 5 due to the amount of articles I have, so that makes me happy at least.

Still though, just a bummer to log on and see this this morning...

Glad to know I'm not the only one at least. Still very dissapointing as my page views went down a lot.

I lost 3,000. This is why they need to get an automated PV system like every other website has. It's not that difficult. And when they do that, they're basically taking money away that we thought we had. Really uncool.

ETA: And not only that, but they took away about $12 more than they should have from me. 3,000 views is about 2, and they took away $15, with nothing in my pending/confirmed payments. I was counting on that money. I can deal with late payments and all the other crap, but I will not stick around a company that promises something they can't deliver.

My page views are down about 4,000. My pv bonus is down about $6.00. Luckily, I'm still at a clout 7. I still have a little more than the minimum number of page views based on the amount of articles in order to keep that.

It's strange though! I can't imagine what happened. AC seems to be a little like a bumbling fool sometimes. They have a lot of kinks.

I haven't been in a writing mood lately. And, I haven't had too much time for it anyway. My mom visited over the weekend. I plan on writing this week though. I've got my list of article ideas ready to go and even some research done. I need to do my 10 articles for Suite for this 3 month period. I've got one month to finish it. Nothing like procrastinating - lol.

For those that are curious, Michael Street did post in the HMM thread at AC that they're looking into it.

I think that there are two schools of thought:

1) There was a glitch with the last update and AC corrected for it this time, resulting in the losses.
2) There was a glitch with the recording, and your total page views are what you saw before PLUS the totals that you have now.

I hope for #2, but am worried that it's #1. Only time will tell. Fingers crossed.

I have not been on AC since the 4th but I did write down the number of page views I had, and today noticed that I lost more than 4000 page views. I sure hope that they get everything in order soon.

Heather - glad to hear that you are doing well with your boys.

All - sorry I have not posted in this thread yet, oh and sorry that I am behind on reading. I was going to try and catch up this morning, but now I wonder if you all would get the page views. I'll wait till everything is back to normal. Crossing my fingers that everyone gets the page views that they deserve.

Check your AC inbox for a message. Current page views stand. There was an error in recording before and some things had been double counted.

Disappointing, but hopefully fixed now.

It's a bummer, but I'm actually not surprised. That last update had a too good to be true feel to it.

I thought it was high too. Well thinking positive here, at least they still are paying for page views, I mean there not abandoning the whole pv bonus completely and are working towards daily pv updates. I can't imagine what a gamble it must be for them, investing money in articles, hoping to sell them or to earn money from ads. Even though I have not been too active on AC lately, I sure am glad that if I had to come up with 80 bucks quickly I could write a bunch of articles for them (like I did with the food reviews a while back).
Enough negativity from me . . . hope you are all doing well in life.

I have 9/20 articles towards my goal this month so hopefully I will exceed it. Updating my progress on my goal here has helped me to keep writing regularly.

I've been rather busy lately. Got up at 5 am, and it took me an hour and a half to read and rate the 140+ articles in my inbox, lol.

Nothing new from me, haven't had time to write much.

I do have a question about rating. I generally give anyone I sub to 5's as long as it is a clearly written piece, if not then 4. I don't rate it based upon whether I agree with it or not, but the quality of the writing. Is that what you all do? I ask because one of my articles has really been down-rated. I think the quality of the writing is fine and it was well-researched, but I assume people are down-rating it because they don't agree with the topic. Any thoughts?

I rate honestly. If the piece is well-written, well-thought-out, etc., it gets a 5. If it's kinda so-so, it gets a 3. If it really sucks, or if it's a non-article (there's someone on my sub list that likes to write 2 sentences just to boost PVs -- nobody in here), it gets a 1. I don't automatically rate highly just because you're on my sub list. But I also don't subscribe to people whose work typically sucks badly enough to get less than a 4 from me.

ETA: Um, don't take that as me saying you suck if I'm not subbed to your work. If I'm not subbed to you and you're here on MDC, I just don't have your link. PM it to me!
