Oh MAN! And how could I have neglected to say HOLY CATS to Agua about the coffee grinder incident. I'm so glad it wasn't a permantly-damaging sort of thing, but I understand that will be pretty painful and pretty annoying for quite some time. I'm sorry it happened! You've got a good story, though...

And it makes sense that stress could cause mastitis, or any infection for that matter. Well, not *cause*, but certainly aid the development of the infection. Stress really inhibits immune system response. (right, Taos & DrJen?)

Thanks everyone for the sympathy. I am honestly a little embarassed about the whole thing, but on th3 other hand I think it is really6 funny. I, um, tend to be a little accident prone sometimes : I think I need to join Monica's extreme household sports team

and could someone explain in simple terms the see a dog thing, I am enough of a nerd to be wildy curious now about what I don't know

Also Plady, I am loving the pics of Ali G!

And PO7, I tended to also get mastitis when I was doing too much. Maybe a relaxing weekend is in order?

okay, must tend to children, and need to make popsicles!-A

Po7, I hope you feel better soon! Are you going to see a doctor?

OMG, aguacates!!! How incredibly painful!!! How did it happen? What kind of grinder? The kind with the blade that goes around and around or a burr? How many fingers got mangled?

Trying to get the motivation to go change into my running clothes and get on the TM. I'm still so tired from all the middle of the night driving and evening meetings. But, I have to get moving. I need a kick in the butt, because I think I have an impromptu meeting tonight and won't have time to do it then.

I just also want to say that I am happier with my dh today than I ever have been before. I never imagined we could get to this place. I never even hoped we could. It seemed too much of a fantasy.

Also, Monica, I'm making progress in "You Can Heal your Life" and I'm loving it! It's coming at a very interesting time that is making it all happen faster. It's good to see results quickly because the sense of success makes it easier to keep going. So, right now, I don't hate my body. I've never been this accepting of my body before!! So, now I'm going to begin to LOVE my body. I love lots of imperfect bodies. It's time to love mine, too. I want my kids to love theirs. So, thank you so danged much!

reporting a 45 minute trail run with 5 minute meditation/breathing break. I feel much better now. if everytime i run my breathing is raspy, rough and squeaky - could i have asthma? seriously, this has been going on for a long time every time i exercise.

Warning, more TMI

3 fingers got mangled, it was the blade kind(and really I think it is a good excuse to get a burr grinder), I always do this thing where I shake the grounds into the lid at the end with the grinder upside down, and somehow (probably because it was 5 am) the top came off and the next thing I knew, coffee was all over the floor and my fingers were stopping the blades. and actually I couldn't get stitches, apparently the fingers were too macerated

Oh, and I think I really need to read the Louise Hay book. This has totally been one of my biggest fears for years(actually ever since I watched the Goonies when I was about six, and there is the blender scene *shudder*) My other worst case scenario has also happened (stepping on a hornet's nest, and I'm allergic) So I think I really do have a tendency to manifest horrible things sometimes, or else just really awful luck.

You might want to check out www.thesixoclockscramble.com I have been subscribed to her service for over a year now, and we have many recipes that are our new family favorites. I have never found so many vegetarian meals that I just love. All of her meal ideas focus on lean/no meat, lots of variety, whole grains, and plenty of veggies. It really filled all of my desires to cook more healthy meals with good whole foods.

Mandy- I don't have a specific plan for arms, but what you could do is mix in arms with your abs and do a circuit training. So do a set of abs, then a set of arms. The things I do for arms are push-ups, reverse push-ups (where you use a short table, chair... extend your legs out in front of you, chair behind you... and then push-up... not sure if that makes sense). I also use a medicine ball and there are tons of things on the internet for using one. You can also do push-ups on an incline and decline (incline- hands are up on a block, low bench, chair... decline- feet are up on a block etc). That is all I got for now. If I get more things from my fitness instructor I'll pass them on.

Aquacates- OUCH!!! How painful that must be!

Megs- You and I can be studying maniacs. I have to get 20 social work theories down by the 15th. Not much fun!

RR: ran my 7 today. The run was wonderful, one of the best runs I've had thus far. What wasn't so wonderful was after I had got a little food in me, taken a shower and then laid down to take a short nap, I woke up and felt completely sick to my stomach... totally like I was going to vomit and pass out. I'm better now, but not cool.

On burr grinders: try to find one that holds a pound of coffee. Ours holds about 2/3 of a pound, but of course the d*** bags you fill up are about a pound. So forever we are having to find a place to stash the last bit of the bag.

OMG!!! That is awful!! Eww and getting bits of coffee out...double ewww...

RR: rest day for me, lots of stretching.

BBM~been meaning to say for a long time now, thank you for the hand made card you and your daughter made for me!!!!!!!!! You are both great artists! It just really warmed my heart to know that you and your daughter enjoyed time together making that for me. Thank you so much!!
Awww I'm glad you liked her color choices...I thought black was an unusual pick...but ya know she made it work

On cholesterol...my mom was able to lower hers nutritionally, but I think it was really hard. She couldn't have hardly any carbohydrates at all...

I ran a nice 4 this morning with jgmommo. Tomorrow will be an easy three....And Oktoberfest 10k on Sunday.

You're so danged welcome! And that thanks goes on up the ladder of recommendations, to the woman who suggested it to me, and the woman who suggested it to her, etc. Lots of love in that ladder. But see? If you're ready, the book really can change your life.

BBM -

Mandy - Wish I could have had a trail run and meditation/breathing session like that today. I need it so very, very badly. :

So I think I finally have an affirmation for me! I've struggled with this one, but after thinking on it in my (rare) quiet moments, this is what I've got:

I make choices that support my decision to be well.

And for me, "well" encompasses all aspects of good health, including physical, mental, and emotional. I want all parts of me to be well, and I want to make choices that will support and encourage that. BOO-YAW!

Monica, that is so profound. Would you mind if I borrowed your affirmation?

Today was tough. DH teaches a late seminar on Thursday nights and he didn't walk in the door until almost 9:00pm. The kids were still awake "to see Papa come home" and I am just about wiped out. Thursdays kill me, every week. It's like the longest day on earth. I wonder now how I managed when DH was in Kuwait for 4 months.... seems like a lifetime ago now. Of course I only had ONE child then .

I went to my spinning class this morning and a few of the girls there invited me to the Tuesday morning Boot Camp class, which is apparently a reall a$$ kicker! I'm kind of excited to be trying something other than swim-bike-run. That said, tomorrow I'm hitting the pool for a nice long swim .

Oooh, oooh! I finally dug out my knitting stuff, went to knittinghelp.com and am currently cranking out the cast-on for a hat . I know how to knit, but can never remember how to cast-on. Now that that's taken care of.... I'm off to KNIT!

JayGee, now that I have one child, I can so much more respect the military spouse. I saw lots of joint spouse couples make it work -- somehow -- with kids. And now I know how gosh-darn hard that must have been. So... hats off!

Funny to think that Dan is kind of going to bear that kind of burden while school is in session.

Monica, I you! Just felt like sayin' it. Your post made me think about my study habits (or lack thereof). I need to make choices that honor the sacrifices I made and am making to be in school right now. Time management being the Big Choice. I was thinking today about taking a picture of me in uniform and one of Nevie to post in my locker, so that every time I look at them I'm reminded of what I gave up and what I have waiting for me at home so that I don't waste the time I get.

[in Napoleon's voice]: Luckeeeeeeeee.

OK, I'm going to check my status quickly before getting back to drawing the schematic of the femoral nerve. Drawing it ON MY LEG. In fuschia marker. Fuschia for Femoral!

In Fitness magazine this month they list their top 7 workout songs:

Let's Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
Sexy Back - Justin Timberlake
Hey Ya - Outkast
Dirty - Christina Aguilera
Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
Crazy in Love - Beyonce

Just thought I'd share.

Woohooo!!! I found you 3 minutes after you got there!

I'm debating...upload some project photos or start knitting a Hedwig for Oliver for Halloween?

I ran today! Or rather, I ran/walked. On the TM. 30 minutes. I'm going to do the last couple weeks of the c25k because it's been too long and I'm plum worn out.
Aww, thanks, Megs! I haven't smiled this big all day. And I have tears in my eyes. Sometimes a gal just needs to hear it. And you drawing on your leg is cracking me up.

Poppy is on ravelry! :

Jaygee - All affirmations are community property. KNIT ON! Are you on our knit blog yet? Cause you know I have to see pictures when you finish your hat.

CherylAnn - Ooh! Ooh! One vote for Hedwig!

Jenlove - About running with your pup, don't take her very far until she is full grown. They can damage themselves if they do too much too little. And just keep training her to stay on your left side. Don't use a retractable leash. Be persistent and consistent. I have now trained 4 dogs to run with me, and they have it down. I run with Febe using a hands-free leash (so it is clipped around my waist) and if she starts to ef with me all I have to say is "Febe HEEL." or if she starts to cross over in front of me a bit (to see something on the other side of the road) "Stay left." and she corrects herself.

And I think Fighter is a better choice for Christina Aguilera. That one pumps me up!

I'm going to go take gigantic for a walk, then lift some weights. Then bed, cause I'm still sickaroo.

Thanks Monica. I figured you could help me since I knew you ran with your dogs. Right now we walk about a mile a day and we jog/sprint as we go since I usually let her tell me how much exercise she needs. I wouldn't do anything over that right now for sure. I'm not sure what breed Lizzy is (beagle/blue tick is what they guessed), but I'm hoping that she can be my running partner eventually.
