How lucky I was w/ my insurance...

So I'm thanking my lucky stars today, since I've been kicked off of medicaid effective 9/30...

Well as you can imagine, the cancer completely put us in debt and we moved back home to NJ.. We moved back home 1/2 thru cancer treatment.. As desperate people we are, dh took a lower paying job, so we could get on medicaid, which was good since 1mth of cancer treatment costed over 40k. So when I got pg, I was still covered..

But we moved into another county, and dh got a better job, and I didn't think of calling the medicaid office, as I knew once we were up for re-evaluation, we'd be ineligible. As luck has it, I was kicked off recently, thankfully my high risk pg, and the hospital stay was all paid in full..

*******If I contacted my medicaid office, when I was suppossed to in March, we'd probably be terminated during the pg...

How fantastic!!!

Here, if you don't contact them by the time you are up for re-eval, they terminate you end of that month, or the one after, depending on the re-eval date.....happened to a friend of mine recently....

That's what happened to us.. I got a letter saying we'd be terminated at the end of August.. I s/w the worker, who was nasty, and said that I screwed up.. She thought I was stupid .. I said I moved and she said "so you are asking me to transfer your file and not close it, right"... I luckily picked up on this and said "yes"..

So they extended it until 10/07, but the new county closed it due to dh making too much $$, and it was closed 9/07.. (yeah he makes too much $$, they should see the credit card debt we have, and they'd realize we're broke)

That's great news. The last thing you need right now is some huge bill added on to all the rest.
