I'm not stupid...

My mom said it to me - what was she thinking?... She said "all that contracting you are doing is good. When it's time for the birth you'll have an easier time." : OK, mom, let's review, I've had 2 babies - I know that is a load of bull. It's a nice thought though - good effort....

Then she tells me "it's kind of weird, everybody's been saying they are waking up in the middle of the night thinking about you." What kind of thing is that to say?! You're just trying to freak me out? I letting off such a collosial amount of frustrated energy here in Texas; I waking people up in Indiana?! WTH!

I thought that sounded sweet. It's nice that people are thinking about you, isn't it? Did she say it in a negative way?

Nah, she was being sweet. I'm just being a hormonal freak

I'm *so* crampy today, but I don't think it is intense enough to be doing anything truly useful. : I feel like I have a bad case of PMS. Which is kind of strange for me...

dont kill me : but I'd heard that a lot of prodromal/BH labor makes birth easier too. May just be an old wives tale of course, but since I am having it a lot as well, I just hope its true. (didnt have any last time)

I've had the PMS type cramps too, as well as the "omg its a contraction...yay!" kind and the "painless but baby is determined to flex my utereus into shape at the cost of my sleep" kind. Sometimes it feels like she would just fall onto the floor if it wasnt for the tiniest thinest layer of epidermus.

Yeah, they always say that - but I've yet to have it happen to me - that's why I can't believe my mom would say that to me - she knows I always have alot of prodrominal labor and have yet to have quick and easy labor.

Ahhh... She's just trying to make you feel better. Isn't it funny how even encouraging comments from our mothers can drive us crazy??

...yeah like my mom keeps saying it would be a good thing if I had the baby now then I wouldn't get really uncomfortable...Ok, let's risk the baby having issues because of being born early just so I won't have too much backpain and 'Rhoids?

I soooo feel for you!! My mom actually told me that "practice makes perfect," with regards to my prodromal action, followed up by telling me that she just "never noticed" all these contractions I keep talking about when she was pregnant. Ugh. She's always feeling like she has to one-up me with pain tolerance. Grrrr..... What happened to a simple, "I'm sorry you're really uncomfortable these days"?

Maybe without the prodromal contractions, labor would be even longer or harder. They have to at least be a decent warmup routine for the uterus. Not worth it if it keeps you from resting though.

This new midwife I found is cool - I was just talking to her - she reccomended valerian and red raspberry and told me it was most important to sleep. Good woman!

I did read something last night about this kind of labor might be thinning the cervix from the inside and stretching the bottom part of the uterus for baby's head, so I guess it *is* possible that it is doing something marginally useful.
