Thank you all for making me feel welcome!

Oceane, I would love some links on vegan pregnancy nutrition!

hey amanda1188,

on vegfamily there is a bunch of articles.

as does vegan health. most of it is by reed mangels, M.D.

I think this one is the same article vegan society, but I'm unsure right now.

another vegan pregnancy article

Dr. Michael Klaper has written a book, I can actually provide you with the pdf version of the German edition, but that is only helpful if you speak German. It is out of print, and also pretty old.

Newer is Raising vegetarian children which I haven't read but supposedly is very vegan-friendly.

The UK org Viva! has two guides that are useful. The first one on mothers and babies and the second one is children

the ADA has a position paperon veg diets which acknowledges vegan diets can be healthy during pregnancy.

that's all i've got for now. please add if you know anything else, ladies. I myself am always searching for new info.

Hi guys. Temps and EWCM confirm that I missed O by a day. My hcg was 6 on Thursday but I didn't get the results until Friday. We DTD but subsequent temps have confirmed I did indeed O on Thursday.
I checked my next due date. Jan 1st. But I went early with both my kids.

Hi all. An update on my status. I just did some calculations last night and realized that if we conceived this next cycle (the first cycle we were going to start ttc), the baby would be due at the very end of Dec. or the very beginning of Jan. I for some reason had figured it would be later in Jan. That just doesn't work for us So, we're going to put off trying for another month, even though I'm getting my IUD out Wednesday.

Bummer. But it makes the most sense. If we did happen to conceive my next cycle, I would be in the throws of the first trimester while trying to finish my MA thesis. Don't want that.

So, I'm still going to be just a lurker for yet another cycle. sigh.

veganmama... I had an incredible viist with carleton (thanks for asking), which blew me away with how well they would be able to support my project. H hates Ottawa, though, and will not support such a move, especially since he'd have to leave his job and that security So, we're staying put. BUT, I will have to do lots of Ottawa visits and hopefully spend a month each summer there.

Hello All,

Welcome Amanda1188!

The ENT's office left a message late Friday afternoon saying that they'd scheduled a CT scan (per my request), but mentioned nothing about the biopsy results. I didn't get home until it was too late to call.:
So, I called the ENT today, who does in fact have the results of the biopsy, but is not in the office on Mondays. The secretary said she would print it off and leave it on his desk.::

I'm about 8 DPO, and so far, no symptoms of any kind. Anyway, I'll keep you all posted.

catemon, I really, really admire your sang froid about this whole thing. I would have completely flipped out by now.

That's just ridiculous! There isn't another doctor there who can call you with the results? I would be steamed :

lilgreen, I am struggling with the late Dec/early January due date too.
I'm glad things went well with your Carelton visit.
I look forward to meeting you some other time you come to town.
And remember, we will both be PG, right?

Lilgreen and Veganmama I dunno, I think having a baby any time of the year can make one's life more challenging (unless you plan on giving birth to a perfect, weaned, potty-trained, well-adjusted, totally independent 30 yr. old). If this is my month, I'll be due on (American) Thanksgiving. It would be a great excuse to get take out from my favorite Indian restaurant.

oceane, thanks for the posts. You are so helpful! Any word yet on the apt?

Veganmama , sorry you missed O. An almost New Years baby has some advantages. The baby would be a great Christmas present, and you would still get the tax break. Plus january and february tend to be boring months, so a new baby would solve that!

catemom , wow sounds like they have some serious problems over at that office!

Forgot to mention, I got my books over the weekend. I started The Infertility Cure, but am not very far into it yet. So far, so good. I also got my purse today and a jacket I ordered, yay!

lilgreen, bummer about having to wait!

veganmama, that was so close! at least you'll surely be more regular again next cycle and know when to expect o.

catemom, I am still convinced they would have called you in a serious case (at least I hope so!) so I'm pretty confident.

snow pea, post a picture of the jacket! we have only seen the purse!
It takes a while to identify your pattern and read through all the tops. I didn't find the nutrition chapter so helpful because I'm already eating so many of the mentioned foods in every pattern...but the chart where you get real tips for your patterns is awesome! i'm kinda combining two herbs mentioned there (vitex and ginseng) with acupressure (not everyday though), heating pad and am currently avoiding sugar (only had a starbucks hot chocolate yesterday, for example, yes, I am proud, can you tell? ) with homeopathic alchemilla tincture and right now pulsatilla d6 twice a day. Supposed to start ovulation. I don't think one can expect to notice anything that same cycle though.
sorry for the brackets!

and starbucks: we only went there because we were early for our appointment with the landlord, we signed the lease! he hasn't yet though, he's waiting to see the credit check (should happen by wednesday I guess), but since that is ok we can move in april 1st. we won't until may though.
the starbucks baristas were nice but it's incredibly expensive, much more so than the other coffeeshops. that was my first and last starbucks I think.
so shoot your ideas for colors/interior design (environmentally friendly and cool )

once you know we can compare patterns snow pea

have a great tuesday ladies, I'm off to make breakfast for two old girlfriends from school who are in town.

Re: the late December/early January due dates...

I hadn't even thought to calculate this time! I guess because we've been TTC for so long, (9 years off and on, but we've pinned down the problem, so we have normal chances now), that I don't care when it happens. When we first started, I didn't want to deliver in Aug/Sep, because that would mean I was very pregnant through the worst part of summer.

I've had a stressful last couple of weeks, making the first month of charting sort of messy. I haven't been sleeping or waking normally, and this weekend we stayed away from home unexpectedly, so I didn't temp for two days, one of which was almost certainly when I ovulated. (I forgot that last time I charted, years ago, I learned that my cycles are longer than I always think they'll be, accounting perfectly for several teenaged pregnancy scares. Well, except the last one, but we can chalk that one up to actual pregnancy! ) I'm starting to feel like I won't be ready to do this in May. It's not like we can just have sex every day there's a potential for ovulation, because we're doing inseminations. I'm going to try ovulation predictors next month, I think. Maybe that will make me feel more confident. Any recommendations?

vegamanda, no advice on ovulation predictors but that is an awful long time to ttc. I'm sorry you had to go through that and am very happy you found the problem!

oceane, DH and I recently painted our bedroom with VOC-free paint and we loved the experience and love the color. The paint has none of that nasty odor and I swear is like it's made from twigs and leaves. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding something like that in Europe. We're planning on doing Fluffy the babe's room in VOC-free paint, too.

Another thing we like is blik wall decals. Fun stuff, huh?

oceane, I got a coat, which arrived yesterday. It is a little snug, but I am hoping to shrink into it. I have been doing a lot better with working out lately and am working on my food issues. I also ordered a shirt, which hasn't arrived yet. I am not normally this stylish and I almost never spend money on clothes (usually I am standing in Target going "$12 for a shirt?"). Something came over me last week, what can I say?

I will try to hurry thru the book so we can compare "patterns". I love how she avoids negative words.

Vegancupcake, I love those decals! That is really a cool idea. We are painting some time in the next couple of months and plan to use the new VOC free paint from Home Depot. Probably just the standard tan.

vegamanda, I tried opk's a few months ago. I never got a positive even though I know I ovulated because I was charting. I used the little paper strips that you dip in a cup, they come 20 to a pack and you have to use them all in one cycle... not sure if the digital would have worked better for me, but they are very pricey. I think my problem was that I pee too often, you are supposed to used them in the afternoon and hold it for something like 3 hours before testing. I can't do that. HTH.

Snow~Pea, that new Home Depot paint is what we used, too! And that coat is adorable. Love it!

What color? I think we have most of the samples, some are taped to the wall right in front of me!

We did our bedroom in . . . was it called Healing Waters? A beautiful, soothing blue. I *really* like it. Our house has white trim (baseboards, doorframes, etc.) and it looks great with it.
