I've been eating pretty TF-y for the past couple of years, with a few lapses here and there but generally, pretty good. I was also raised by WAP devotees on home-grown organic veggies and wild meats & fish, whole grains (long-rise bread) and whole dairy (albeit pasteurized).
Sooo.... last week I went to the dentist for a cleaning for the first time in, like, 5 years. I was a bit apprehensive because in that time I went through a pregnancy and some health problems post-pregnancy, and I know the havoc that sort of thing can wreak on one's teeth. But as it turns out, my teeth barely even needed *cleaning* and there's no sign of anything approaching decay, whereas the last time I went I needed cleaning in a bad way and there were a couple spots the dentist was going to keep an eye on.
And, thanks to my childhood, my teeth were healthy to start with. Genetics does play a part, but my dad didn't have any of his own teeth left when he died 13 years ago and my mom has major dental issues and a mouth full of metal. So yay traditional foods and good nutrition! BTW I'm 35 and have never had a cavity.
Anyone else? Share your TF successes! (I need some more motivation, I'm turning the family hard-core TF for the next little while to deal with DH's health problems...)
