I need to learn to knit. My crafts are more decorative than practical. I have scrapbooks planned and I want to get them started sooner than later and some other decorative name things and just stuff to make everything pretty.

The kids and I just turned out house into Halloween Central today. I love decorating for the holiday, and got some great ideas from good ol' Martha Stewart. I got some really round pumpkins and painted them with white glue and covered them with ultrafine glitter- they look awesome!

I need to start knitting more for this baby. I've only done one hat, and I'm almost half way to the birth! Anyone have any favorite newborn patterns to share?

I am so buried in projects that I haven't even started crafting for the baby. To be fair though, I'm kind of waiting till we find out the gender next week, then I'll start a blanket, sweater, hat, longies, etc.

I did a to-do list on my blog this evening and am trying to remind myself that *somehow* I'll get it all done!

I found the cutest little romper pattern on the net that I have started knitting up. My babe will be born in the heat of summer down here, so am making it up in a cute burnt orange Jo Sharp cotton. It is a summer suit but could be worn with leggings or cardigan. It's saved into my Favourites at home so if anyone would like the pattern I can post the link later. I am only an intermediate knitter but thus far have found it very easy, and extremely quick to knit up.

On another note, I feel sooo bad whenever anyone mentions scrap-booking etc as I am so terrible when it comes to photos. I still havent finsihed DD's baby book! I found a site on the web where you can make up an online album and they print it for you and send it out. I may just settle for doing that!! I'm so bad. I can't bare the thought of still having it unfinished when this baby arrives. And don't even mention wedding photos..... eek.

Definitely share the romper pattern.

No worries, when I get home from work I'll try and remember to post it!

PS - nausicaamom - just checked out your blog. Wow. I would love to be able to knit that well!

That's inspired me to try a sock if they aren't too hard?

If you can put short rows on a soaker, little-g, you can do socks.

I'm nearly finished with a pair of newborn longies, and I finally cast on for the second sleeve of my cardigan last night. On the bright side, I made the most amazing witches hat for Skye yesterday out of dark jacobs wool from the fleece I bought last summer and hate spinning It hasn't dried yet, but just totally amazingly WOW. I love it, I really do.

Beautiful nausicaamom!! I am working on a pair of socks for my neice, she is three and saw some socks that I made for my kids and wanted some pink socks of her own I found some awesome yarn. I will take a pic when I get one done. Not really much time right now, I have been really busy doing not much of anything :

I wish that I could knit a sweater like that but the only thing I can knit is socks. I wish someone here would teach me!! Mil can't knit : and my mom is so far away. She is working on some things for us though

Jenn, can you post your dimensions for baby socks? I want to make a couple of pairs of miniature falling leaves (I promised Nature some gn bootees) but I haven't got a newborn handy to measure their feet.

I'll get a quick and dirty pattern posted later tonight. These socks are actually more like 0-3 or maybe even 3-6 month size since newborn socks on Michael were a joke. The finished measurements are 4" circumference, 3.5" length, and a 3" cuff ('cause I hate skimpy cuffs). I have to dash to make dinner, so I'll be back later with more details.

BTW - flattery will get you anywhere ladies Thanks for making my day!

my mom made soakers for ez from her grandmother's patterns. so precious to me. i cannot knit but i want to crochet a few baby hats once i am back in a place where yarn exists. i could never find yarn in bali.

i did some beading last night for the first time in months. i brought along a little box with me but forgot my wire cutter so i bought one yesterday. okay, and a few beads, too! the bead shops in bali only had glass beads and never any tools. i was so stoked about getting a wire cutter, having time and a table to sit at that i made one necklace and started three other ones!!!

those little socks are adorable! i haven't started making anything for this babe yet. i'm currently repainting DS' room so that maybe he can actually start sleeping there!

Jenn, how big WAS Michael, exactly? I thought he was 10lbs or so???

Helen - he was 10lbs 3oz and 21" long, but his feet have always been huge - I have to go buy him a new pair of shoes on Friday and they will be size 10's (don't know the UK equivelant) and he's pushing 40" now. Since so much didn't fit Michael at birth, I've buy knitting larger stuff for the Bean - which probably means I'll get that petite 7lb baby.

I just double checked the measurements and they are pretty much in line with most of the 0-3 month stuff, maybe a bit big for socks but definitely close to finished sized for booties.

I am working on some gifts right now, although every once in awhile I make a square for the blanket I'm making for the baby. As I get better at crocheting, I get more ambitious. Crochet is fairly limited when it comes to patterns/clothing, but I found some soaker patterns I'd like to try, and I'd like to make a hat and scarf and some little hand mitts for my early spring baby (early spring in Iowa is still pretty damned cold!).

i bought yarn at the thrift store today! gonna make some hats...we need winter hats ourselves and then one for the babe!

Thanks for that jumper link. I have it bookmarked for spring crafting . . .

Right now I am diving into my Christmas projects. I am making pyjama sets for all the kiddos/babies in the family. I'll post photos when I finish. I also am making doll clothes for my neice's birthday at the end of the month. So far, I have only finished a pair of black jeans, but they are too cute.
