Please say a prayer for Jacob. Test results came back positive!

Well, for those who have been kind enough to read through my rambling posts over the past 10 days....my kids were exposed to hand foot and mouth disease (coxsackie virus) and my perinatologist was concerned enough to order blood work to see if I had been exposed too or if I was immune. The blood work finally came back today and it showed an elevated antibody response to Coxsackie B virus which is the most dangerous form of coxsackie. We repeated the test today to see if the value increases confirming infection, remains the same or drops back and it will be another long 5-9 days before we have any results. My specialist did an NST and biophysical profile to check on Jacob today for signs of hydrops (fluid around the heart, lungs and brain). Unfortunately, it can take several weeks before it shows up on u/s so that window is still open. Also, Coxsackie B virus has no treatment and only supportive care can be provided so that is the worst thing that I feel so helpless. Coxsackie B also attacks children under 5 the hardest and as the cardiac pediatrician said today "Mrs. Ruble...I would be more concerned with your two living children than I would be with the fetus at this point." Well, that sure didn't help. I know he was trying to be reassuring but WTH?? Actually, he was very nice and answered all of my questions. Basically according to all 3 specialists it is a "anything can happen" and "lets wait and see and hope for the best." The only control that I feel I have at this point is to ask everyone who is willing to please say a prayer or good thought for all my children to be okay and welcome all thoughts and religious beliefs. I switched pediatrician's today and have an appointment with a new one tomorrow to get Adam and Hannah checked as the other group only let me see a nurse practioner and completely blew me off saying, "You have absolutely nothing to worry about as this isn't a concern to us." Well, apparently it is a concern for children depending on the strain. I am sorry for rambling again but I am so scared. I just wish I could go to sleep for the next few weeks until delivery time because this not knowing is eating away at me......

You and your family are in my thoughts. I really hope the new pedi is more considerate. Can you write a letter to the old practice explaining why you are leaving them? Might help some other parents who don't get taken seriously.
I had no idea this disease could be so dangerous and am still kinda in shock about how you got it in the first place. Does your church know what's going on and have other kids gotten it as well?
I know there's absolutely nothing that can distract you over the next few weeks until you get some results, stay strong mama. We are all here for you!

Oh Maureen, how awful to have to live with this not-knowing state. I will pray that God would protect your children, all three, and you as well as you wait to find out results and how to proceed. So sorry for your distress right now. :
Best,
