Hello,
I took the kids to the new pediatrician today and it was a good experience. She stated that the kids hearts sounded just fine and that she doesn't expect to see any complications at this point but she will keep an eye on them. She said that yes, there can definately be complications from coxsackie B but in her time as a doctor (she is very young I should add) she hasn't seen any direct problems attributed to it. The most helpful was that she explained how that titer test works and she looked at the numbers and gave me some good information that at 1:16 (on the high side) she would be more concerned if the number was 1:64 for example. However, she did acknowledge that it could still go up with this next test but that at 4-5 days after exposure with the few symptoms I had it should already be higher because your immune system immediately jumps into action when it perceives a threat. I informed her that if these were her thoughts then why are my obstetrician's so concerned and especially my perinatologist. She said, "I hate to say this but OB's and peri's have such a high rate of being sued that they want to be extremely cautious and not take any chances...which they shouldn't with you or the life of your baby but that is probably why the heightened alert just in case." I guess that makes sense in a way. So, I am at the point that I just have to keep going from positive vibes and prayer for the best. Thanks for all you nice thoughts...I am hoping that is why today has been a little better for us.

My peri's partner, saw me today and tried to tell me not to worry to much about these test results even if it comes back at a higher number showing definate infection because he says "there is not enough in the literature to panic just yet and in my years I have not had one case that was worst case scenario". It was somewhat reassuring and I am trying to have a positive attitude but I am not going to lie that it is on my mind EVERY second. Dr.'s office called for my results and was told half was done and they would fax what they had but turns out that was wrong info and we won't know anything until at least Monday. Sigh........Thanks SO much for the positive prayers, thoughts and good vibes sent our way. It truly means alot to me. My husband doesn't understand the worry I feel and believes that "no knews is good news and I think everything will be fine honey and so should you." It's easy to say don't worry but harder to follow through with.
