my doc does the IUI the day after the LH surge is detected. i've heard that the LH surge usually occurs in the wee hours of the morning. i detected mine on Sunday around 2 pm. i had my IUI done around 10:30 am on Monday and i noticed that my temp spiked this morning. so i probably ovulated sometime Monday through Tuesday morning. so shouldn't the IUI have been done earlier for optimum timing?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.
Best time for IUI?

I'm not sure, but that is the timing that my RE will use too. Washed sperm is different from fresh. It won't live long. So your timing actually sounds good. I think you want to get the sperm in there as close to actual ovulation as possible. The egg lives 12-24 so having the IUI even a few hours after ovulation I think could be sucessful. I think the washed sperm only live 8 hours or so. I've heard that they actually think that many cycles fail because the IUI is done too early--too close to the LH surge. I haven't had an IUI at the drs yet, and I feel pretty nervous about the timing issue already.
