How to manage teeth and BFing?

Dd just got her two upper teeth, and already has her two lowers. They haven't been a problem but as these upper teeth come in it really hurts to BF. Does this get better or go away? Is there any position that might help? I'm not giving up BFing, but I want to see if there's a way to make it more comfortable.

Thanks.

I noticed that when my breast was very full or my baby was very hungry, I felt those teeth a lot. However, with time, I felt them less and less until now I do not feel them anymore.

I think this will happen for you too.

I have found that ds, who is 9 months, has started to "toddler nurse", in my mind meaning he is all over the place. When his teeth start to bother me, I pull him in close and do the tummy-to-tummy that we did while he was a newborn, but have gotten away from in the last few months. This has definitely helped to alleviate some of the discomfort. Our LLL leader also suggested nursing in the reverse position while lying down, his head by my belly, kind of nursing upside down! If nothing else it makes us both giggle Good luck!

when ds was getting his top two front teeth it was really uncomfortable. only twice did he accidently bite down. and each time i responded with ouch, that hurt and sat him upright for a minute and then back to the breast and it was alright from then on. i also repeat "gentle gentle" when he latches on and that seems to help. good luck!
