Anyone worked with a septate uterus?

Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post...

I'm looking for any information from midwives and doulas who have seen a woman complete a successful term pregnancy with no problems - all the while having had a non-altered septate uterus.

Any testimonies or statistics?

If I'm remembering the correct terminology, then my SIL has this condition. This is where she has two uteruses? (and in her case, I believe it is extended to her cervix).

She is a high risk case, but has had two daughters. Both were born by planned c-section after she went into labor naturally, both at 35 weeks to the day. She was told she will likely never carry a pregnancy to term. I'm not sure if it would be possible to deliver naturally with her condition, I just know that her OB did not want to attempt it. Her second child, the operation took a little longer, as the baby was in the opposite uterus as they thought she was.

I don't know a lot about it, but if you have any specific questions, I might be able to remember more, or ask her about it.

they can be at risk for PTL and are considered high risk for that and other reasons (IUGR). the one pt (complete septate) that i had ended up wiht an emergent c/s at 28 weeks with PTL. she had twins one in each side. there are numerous multiple links if you google septate uterus and pregancy. there are varying degrees of the malformation of the uterus. i have seen multiple girls deliver with bicornate but none that have gone to term wiht the complete version.

I know one woman with a partial septum (bicornate). With #1, she had an IUGR that wound up with an early c/section, then #2 - a perfectly healthy, full term VBAC. With #3, she had PPROM, and birthed a vaginal breech (hid from the doctors until baby was practically out).

I think it matters which side the placenta implants, whether any of the placenta is on the septum, and the "spaciousnes" of the side where the baby grows.

My MIL has a septate uterus and had one child die at 2 days, my dh born 4 weeks early and very small multiple losses and my Sil born early and also small.

If the embryo implants on the septum the placenta which forms there has very poor blood flow and my MIL's first child's placenta was the size of a walnut.

SIL has uterus didelphys which is two uteri, cervices and a septum in the vagina. She didn't get to full term and had a c-section.

There is a busy group over on the babycenter board in high risk pregnancies under uterine abnormalities where several women have had normal births without knowing they had a septum.

A good friend of mine has uterus didelphys and has had 3 pregnancies, no m/c -- although one baby was more high risk because of being on one side vs the other, better side -- and had them all by scheduled c-s at 38w or 39w.

She recently had surgery to remove (or repair?) the septum in her cervix and I think now she could theoretically have vaginal birth, but I'm not sure she's planning to have more kids.

There's a yahoo group for women who have these conditions, I believe they are called Mullerian Abnormalities, and my friend got a lot of info from the groups.
