cold sores and pregnancy..

I have two cold sores that just popped up. I was searching online for ways to get rid of them that are safe. I ran across a bunch of articles saying if you have an active cold sore your doctor will give you a csection?! I don't really get it. I am scared sh*tless now that my doctor will see them tomorrow and want to schedule a section.

What can I use to get rid of them. Obviously they won't go away by tomorrow, but something to get rid of them fast!

Probably freaking out over nothing, but I don't want to give them any excuse.

Well, cold sores are herpes, which in the vaginal area is dangerous. But the baby isn't coming out your mouth, so why would they make any difference there?
yet more completely irrational superliabilitycaution?

Sheesh, many (uninsured) midwives will cover vaginal herpes with something instead of rushing to a C-section, if the placement of the sores allows it.

Are they outside your mouth? Makeup? bandaids?

The only rational precaution seems like it would be don't kiss the newborn baby's face while you have a cold sore.

l-lysine.

I used it a lot last month when I had cracked corners of my mouth. I did look into the safety of it, and decided that it was worth any small risk. (I can't remember the "risk," but it was something that ultimately made me decide to use the l-lysine.)

Thanks! I thought it was so strange, but then again any reason for them to intervene right. I just assumed I shouldn't kiss the baby!! I might just make up some lie. I don't know what my doctor thinks about it, I don't plan on asking. I know it isn't a big deal, so I am not bringing it up. I just read that and freaked out a little bit. I really need to quit googling everything!! I may try using some cover up and lipstick. Hopefully, I have some!
