lol.gif  I think I was just releasing my pent up decorating frustrations and enjoying being able to do so in a completely different style than usual.  I never got to do up a nursery for my baby.  Waiting til the baby is 10 doesn't give you as much whimsical license, though.  He had his preferences for blue and green and not having stuff all over the walls.  He wanted the room to not look juvenile and he likes a clean space.

The great thing is I didn't buy anything new except the paint, the $4 wall clock, and the fabric for the chairs.  The IKEA display case, the round table under the window, and the desk lamp were from freecycle.  I refinished the table and painted the legs nickle colored.  The headboard and footboard were made by my dad 30 years ago.  The huge earth picture was in my dad's office, a gift from my brother, and the map trash can was dad's when he was a kid.  The green floor lamp was my granddad's (it used to not work and was peeling black paint).  The comfy corner chair was mine in college, and the folding bookshelf from my first apartment.  The directors chair, formerly black and orange, was bought from a flea market when we were just married.

Now if only I could finish painting my room...  I stalled out on that project 6 years ago.  I'm really a queen of half done projects.

I'd like to share our Livingroom/Dining room. It's a long an semi narrow space, we also use it as our office and homeschooling space. It's the "living" area of our home and the heart of it.

Looking at the area from the front door.

From the dining room.  In the coffee table/chest we keep board games and puzzles, under the tv are electronic stuff for the wii

The living room area.  I love our art work. <3

We keep homeschooling supplies in the bottom of this hutch.

Oooh, you did the repurposed sewing table thing with the antique treadle base!  I have a treadle machine but the whole thing works so I'm keeping it intact but I love the idea.  I love your oil lamp collection, too.  And having fabric lining the china cabinet doors to hide the content. thumb.gif

very cool. it's hard to use those long/narrow spaces! i think you did a great job.

The left closet has shelves in it and is mostly toy storage.  The right closet has his dresser in it.  I'm quite jealous!

Thanks!  That is Benjamin Moore's "Tranquil Blue" 2051-50.  I had picked out something called Summer Dragonfly from the Freshaire Choice no VOC brand at Home Depot but the store was discontinuing carrying that brand paint.  So I went to Benjamin Moore and picked out a very similar color.  I'm not a blue person but I really like this shade, just a touch towards aqua, but not too bright. smile.gif

Is that a repurposed drawer?  Love that!

Yes :) If you look in the before pictures, you'll see that we had an in wall oven (that didn't work..) with tons of drawers, so I figured why not?! :)

You'll have to excuse the terrible iphone pictures. They're all I've got to work with right now.

The living room before
And "after." Nothing is ever really done in any house I live in.
chair wall
TV wall

There's another side to the room, behind the camera, but it's not even close to finished. I did this whole room (with the exception of the $400 couch that we've had for a few years) for $165.

I'm kicking myself for not taking a before of the 1/2 bathroom, but here is the after.
cieling

The walls were (are) paneled in some bizarre mustard colored laminate that's glued to the plaster walls, so I left them up and painted them a very light grey. The "far" wall used to have an old metal upper cabinet covered in metallic contact paper. When I removed it, I realized that someone cut a major corner and decided not to panel back there, so I just hung a curtain on a tension rod to cover it.
This makeover was entirely free. The paint was leftover from my office, the china cabinet was repurposed from the dining room, and all of the accessories were just lying around waiting for a home.

Thanks for looking!
I'll post more rooms with better pictures as we finish them.

ETA: That is NOT my stuff in the "before."

Looks amazing!!!

It looks fabulous! Before my kids were old enough, I used to keep the cleaners up there too!

I'm loving so many things! The kitchens look awesome. I love the idea of the drawer being used as a shelf... and now need to find one to steal that idea! 4evermom I love your son's room redo. The colors and theme are perfect.
