Post pics of your clean, clear space - Page 14

Okay, it's taken me two days to get through this thread! I loved looking at all the pictures. I have a few to add.

These are of my living room. You can see the beautiful but perfectly useless cradle that my fil made for us. I'd like to put a small bench there, but I have to keep the cradle forever now.

Here is my utility area that is clean and clutter free! It's a really small and annoying space, but it is clutter free, so woo hoo!

And this is my front hall closet that tends to be a magnet for clutter:

It is beautiful. It's just a bit of a painful reminder. He spent all that time making when we never used it. It was sort of like - I love you enough to make this elaborate gift for you but not enough to actually get to know you (this was for child #4, so it wasn't like it was a new thing, yk?). Make sense? Anyhoo, it is very beautiful.

What beautiful spaces. And this thread has almost 19,000 views, so I'm guessing a lot of us are enjoying the pics. Keep 'em coming! I might be inspired to add my own someday if I ever get to the point where I actually have a clean, uncluttered space!

JoAnna, I love your living room! Where did you get your couches? Your art?

Thanks, Amanda

Hi Amanda,
We bought the leather couches at Rooms to Go outlet, the flower one we got from craigslist, all the other chairs from garage sales / cragislist; and my dad made the playstands The art is from Ebay, we stretched it ourselves. Thanks!

Here is our decluttered house. I created this because we are selling our house but I am enjoying the clean, clear space!

crystalalene,
The house is lovely. The floors are beautiful!

OT...how do you like your wood countertops? I have been living with hideous pink laminate counters for fifteen years and was thinking of switching to wood. Everyone talks us out of it saying it isn't durable/practical with children. We looked at granite, but we have ugly white laminate cabinets and horrible pink tile floors too. (FYI...We didn't build the house - I do not like pink!) Nothing seems to match and we can't afford a complete kitchen remodel.

Hey, thanks!
They're great. We have ikea wooden tops. You have to maintain them by keeping them oiled once in a while. Otherwise they are easy to use and really durable. If you really mess them up I imagine you could sand them. This is the second kitchen we've redone and chose wood again.

I went to the IKEA website and found some countertops. Is $29.00 the actual price for one small piece? That seems so cheap. Do they come unfinished? How hard was it to cut the sink out, sand, etc?? We are not very good at home improvement but we really want wood and one company quoted us over $1500 to do our kitchen.

Whoh...MorganRiley. Great spaces you've posted, but it freaked me out a bit to see your username. Flip the order and that's my daughter's name. LOL

Sorry to steal the thread on countertops... but yes, it is cheap. You also have to buy the oil. Cut slowly with a hand finish saw, then sand a bit. You can do it! Or, hire someone handy to put them in, still not expensive!

pancakes! funny about the name
I chose it because they are both surnames of my ancestors on my maternal side...
maternal mothers last name was Morgan
maternal grandmothers last name was Riley

If my third child was a girl I wanted to name her morgan riley (but alas...he was a boy...but I knew a morgan BOY growing up LOL)

Our house was part of the Historic Home Tour this past weekend. So, as long as everything was all prettied up, I took a bunch of pictures.
Here is a slideshow of our 1921 house - before and after.
I hope that it looks "clean and clear" - that was kind of the look I was going for! Any suggestions are more than welcome!
