I've been de-cluttering and we finally got to re-do part of the living room last weekend... I saw a similar idea on the Ikea Hacks blog and have wanted to so something similar for years! We got rid of the tv and big entertainment center and now will use the computer for dvd watching. It added seating and storage, I love it! We have a smallish house (1198 sq ft) and it's always a struggle to keep things tidy with 5 people and various pets.

those are really lovely pictures. i love the quilt on top of the washer and dryer. i don't know why it struck me so, but it's lovely.

cw: thanks. it's because we don't own a lot of stuff, and i keep on top of what comes in. it's hard to keep on top of DH, he loves his piles! but, i make him go through them every week and file accordingly. it's not always easy, though. he puts up a fuss! lol

the space is small enough that i can pick up pretty quickly. DS had all of his toys strewn across the living room last night, and i thought DH had picked it up before bed (i'm not feeling well, so i went to be early). he hadn't, and so i woke up to a mess. Dh had also used a lot of dishes at breakfast this morning, left his laundry everywhere, and so on.

so, i managed to pick up the place in about 20 minutes--made the bed, picked up dirty clothes, put away his PJs, cleaned up the kitchen, picked up DS's toys and straightened up the bathroom. pottied DS of curse and got him squared away, and then made breakfast for he and I.

now i'm waiting on DH to get home (he had to let a painter into our business to finish a job), so that we can finish the communications invoicing.

We seem to keep moving and the houses keep getting smaller. Here is where we are currently living and it's about 1100 sq ft with no garage and virtually no storage for our family of four + a parrot. It's really easy to keep clean though, I love the tile floors! I use the closet in the older girl's room exclusively for storage and they keep their clothes together in the littler girl's room. I vacuum the entire house Mon & Fri & scrub floors on Mondays, the other cleaning is mixed between those days based on demand. I keep laundry simple by using only white towels & sheets for all the beds.
