I love your house, The shelves around the window in the bedroom, the living/dining room, and the laundry room with the nice cabinets and cute little window! Very nice!

Thanks. The flour bins are actually pet food bins and they're from Simply Organized... which is pretty much the Hawaii version of The Container Store.

thank you! DH is currently finishing the trim in the playroom so now we can put up curtains and all the artwork i've collected (some from great etsy shops)!!! i'm so excited about that. i'll have to post pics. next project: upstairs bathroom i just wish renovating was cheaper.

Hiya. I'm getting closer! A couple more spaces are done, so I thought I'd post finally.

I moved to a smaller place this winter and only brought a pull-out couch and a dining room buffet with me for furniture. So I'm pretty much starting from scratch. It's been kind of fun to do things with just my taste in mind!!

So I already posted my pretty room somewhere on this forum.

I also have finished DS's room as much as it's going to be done. I want to get some shadow box cubes to put up the vintage toys I got. But right now, he'd just be trying to get them all the time. And he clearly needs a bed-skirt. I haven't decided about curtains. Maybe--he seems to be past the spinning in curtains phase. I just used a pressure rod in my own room and it worked great. I'm not going to do much more. His clothes are all in my dresser (a repurposed dining room buffet).

And the living room! I didn't have a separate playroom in this little house, so I had to make some tough decisions about what stayed and what didn't. I'm happy with the end result. Everything has a place. It's definitely child centric, but he's half of this household. Having his things nicely displayed is comfortable for both of us.

So the only projects left are to do a fabric in embroidery hoops thing on the wall above the dining table. And to organize the storage area downstairs.

Oh, I didn't pick the paint colors. Most people ask me "can you paint if you want?" when they come in. But I hate painting and I don't hate the colors. So I'm working with what's here.

Thank you! I am really happy with it. Everywhere I've lived for the past 10 years, the bedroom is the dump-it-so-no-one-can-see-it room. I was determined not to fall into that trap again. So I started right away with making it somewhere I like to be. And since I'm newly single, I had a yen for something girly. But not frilly. I worked hard to find that compromise. My favorite thing I think is the bookshelves instead of nightstands. I've culled my books significantly. What's left are the ones I love and they all fit on these little bookshelves! I may never use nightstands again! They are nice and tall and offer practical storage. Not just lamp-holding, dust-covered junk-drawers.

Getting this room done was a big thing for me. The public areas of the house got done without too much hassle, but I really wanted to settle into the bedroom so I did it asap with things I'd never have used if still cohabitating with STBX. I love my funky lamps, and etsy art and the pink fabrics. They are neat and organized and it's my little bit of calm in my house (when the bed isn't full of stuffed animals and wooden dinosaurs and 3 yr old and 2 cats!!).

I liked the book-cases so much that I got two more to use for toy storage instead of a tv-stand in the living room.

Etsy art is the best thing ever. Unique, usually pretty frugal, and you're working straight with the person making it! The paintings over the bed were custom for me. I loved elements of several of her paintings and she was open to custom. I told her which backgrounds and designs I liked from her shop. Requested birds. Requested pink instead of red accents (since pink was the accent color in the room). Then left it to her to figure out my tastes from there. It came out nothing like I had in my head, but absolutely perfect for the space! And it was no more expensive than if I'd bought a pre-framed something or another from a big box place.

I've slowed down my etsy shopping spree recently, but I have my eye on a print or two that I looooove from a children's artist for DS's room. Super cute and retro/vintage vibe.

This summer we are rearranging the kids rooms. Big kids have been sleeping in the bunks in the boys room anyway for months, and dd's room is a hell hole right now after switching to a large bed that just takes up the whole room. So we are going to make a "Night" room and a "Day" room for all the kids, with the toys, computer, tv, etc in dd's room, and beds and clothes in the boys. They haven't loved this idea but are willing to try. I figure I can only do this for a little while anyway, since dd is now 9, but since they choose to sleep in the same room anyway right now, I want to maximize our space.

Will come back with pictures throughout the process!
