Thank you for that! We don't eat cereal anymore, yet last week, like a fool, bought a box because I started feeling like I wasn't eating enough fiber. It was organic cardboard and horrid tasting so now I'm going to throw it away and get my fiber from tastier more natural alternatives!

That was hilarious (in a disturbing kind of way). I admit, I often still have a box of cold cereal in the pantry- mostly for DH, but I eat it once in a while too. No more though - out it goes!

I really like the part where they explain why (some?) cereal tastes like cardboard.

DH still eats cereal and I can't seem to get him to quit. He doesn't do it regularly but we always seem to end up with a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the pantry. My hope is that one of these days we'll move beyond that. I need to try and make the homemade cereal and see whether that's something that'd appeal to his tastes.

As for fiber, I seem to have shifted my thinking from 'cereal=extra fiber' to 'beans=extra fiber' and end up with a big pot of bean stew whenever I feel the fiber lacking. I'm not even sure if it's true for both kinds of fiber but hey, beans are better than cereal, right?

Recovering cereal addict here, I've been "clean" for about 4 years now, with a few times off the wagon.

I found the discussion of how cereal tastes so bad (like cardboard) interesting. As I read it, I thought "then why the hell did I love it so much/get addicted?". then I realized it--SWEET MILK. That was it, I love the taste of milk (raw!) with a little honey (raw!) now, so back in the day when I did the kashi crap with processed milk I was basically looking for that flavor (just the wrong way!)

Thanks for the link, loved the article!
