Bulk Raw Organic Dried Fruit

My kids enjoy dried fruit, and I'd prefer if they were raw. The only place I've found raw organic dried fruit close to me is this farm, and I find their prices quite steep (are they?).

Anyone have a good cheaper source for these?

Silly question but wouldn't any dried fruit be semi cooked no matter what? If it is naturally sun dried the sun would heat it up and cook it some what and if it is air dried it is exposed to heat but lower temps that used for true cooking.

What if you purchased a food dehydrator and made your own? Some fruits are very easy like bananas, berries, and apple slices. Some are harder to do such as plums and grapes (I kept thinking they were not dry enough but ended up letting them go to long). Anyway if you make your own you can choose the fruits you want, know they are preservative free and control the temperatures they are dried at.

This won't probably be too helpful, but I've been ordering dried fruit from Living Tree Community Foods in CA: http://www.livingtreecommunity.com/s...s.asp?catid=18. It's only marginally less expensive than Our Father's (Our Father's is $13.50usd/lb for apricots, Living Tree is $11.99usd/lb for apricots, though a little less for a bulk order) - plus shipping might negate any savings.

Living Tree is not cheap - but it's the best dried fruit I've ever tasted - it's all organic & sun-dried. It seemed pricey to me, but after tasting it, I didn't bother researching prices, because I immediately just wanted MORE! I have decided to splurge throughout this pregnancy, anyway! If I find a less expensive source, I'll post.
