Breast Feeding Strike-- please help

I also posted this is the general breastfeedingn board but thought it should also go here. Sorry about the double posting.

Hello ladies,
I am posting this for a friend. Here is the situation: Her son is about five months old, he is with a sitter during the day so my friend pumps and breastfeeds when she is with him. She does not want to give up breastfeeding yet. However, for the past day and a half, her son has not been feeding from the breast, he will take a bottle, and has continued to eat solids. She thinks the maybe teething. What can she do to get him to continue to breast feed? Any idea about what could be going on and what would help?

Thanks in advance,
Zora

Wooing baby back

I periodically post these links and find that the addresses often change. Some of these links probably are not current.

Finding a current link is usually a simple matter of copying/pasting the article name into the search field of the meta search engine of your choice and the article you're looking for will usually be one of the first results. You may need to look carefully since occasionally some of the results will be for related resources linking the article in question but that is often a dead link as well.

I have learned the hard way it is usually more efficient to search using a meta search engine rather than the site the article comes from. Note, you can tell the source of the article from the link/address. Unfortunately, some of the search features on these various sites are unreliable, notably Kellymom.com, so even if you have a "Key Word" from the article you can't be guaranteed to find it by using that site's search function.

If it turns out that some of these aren’t working please PM me and I'd be glad to track it down.

My first thought would be to switch the baby to a sippy cup (experiment with using the no-spill valve or taking it out) during the day That way, he has to satisfy his sucking needs only at the breast.

That sounds like a good idea.

Wishing your friend good luck, looks like the links above have lots of good info.
