batting for standard pillow

Thread Starter
My husband has been requesting a firmer pillow. I don't want to buy him a polyester pillow because I'm concerned about flame retardants. But latex/wool pillows are really expensive. So I thought maybe I could make him one.
So, I'm wondering:
Is it possible to buy latex batting?
Or, if not latex, would cotton or wool be a better choice? Or a mixture of both?
How much batting would I need to make a firm, standard pillow?

Thanks! Sewing is pretty new to me!:

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as latex batting, but it is possible to get latex foam, although it can be quite expensive. You can get latex foam and wrap it in the batting of your choice. However, I'm pretty sure most poly fills do not have flame retardant added, if that's your primary concern!
