When to call questions

This is silly, since this is my 4th baby, but I've never had a normal labor so feel pretty much like a first timer.

My back is aching like mad, my contractions aren't going away when I rest now, and I'm kinda crampy. But my last two, I had regular strong contractions for weeks so hate to assume things.

To top it off, my dh works nights, so if I wait more than 20 min from now, he'll be to late to call in and I'll have to hope if things change that I can get him home in time. But I can't afford to just keep him home for nothing, ya know? We are really tight on paid time off (as in, well, none lol)

And to make it harder, my mom, grandma, greatgrandma and so on all had no contractions before transistion at all. They had back pain. All my family's birth stories are of pregnant woman being dragged off by HER mom, cuz she didn't know she was in labor, so my back worries me most.

So what do you think? If I make dh stay home, I could just wait till they get stronger before calling, but then he's home for nothing. Do I still plan on me working tomorrow, or should I go ahead and back out of that now to be safe?

Ok, enough rambling questions, I'm going to go up for a shower and see if that helps my back

I can relate...my DH works midnights also. Normally when I'm unsure, I just send him to work anyway. My midwife's recommendation when in doubt...take a bath and drink a glass of wine. If the contractions continue, you're in labor. Good luck!

Thanks. I think he's still going in, but will just tell him to stay near a phone lol

I thought of having a drink earlier, but then dh said we had nothing
Just came down from a nice warm shower (our tub no longer fits me so comfy lol), no change. But I figure, I'll need sleep, so I'm going to head up and just take the phone.

Fingers crossed that she waits till he's home at least lol
