MWSB Donor 307

I just wanted to let those that are considering which donors to choose know that I am currently pregnant with a little girl from donor 307. We had tried 188 and 232 unsuccessfully.

MWSB Donor 330

I was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone with a bfp with donor 330?

Congrats Candan!

I just wanted to say congrats to you Candan! I'm glad that 307 worked for you! I know that another woman on the Midwest babycenter.com board posted being pregnant with twins by this donor. I myself am thinking about using this donor. It will either be 216 or 307 if we use Midwest since 292 won't be available for months. Did you do IVF, IUI or home insems when you conceived? I would love to hear the details of your successful cycle if you want to share. Again, Congrats!

P.S. When are you due with your baby girl?

Hi everyone!

DP and I are going to start trying using myself starting in November. She says she's read great things about Midwest and so I'm thinking about using them as our bank.

Has everyone had good experiences with this bank? Anyone have any profiles that they are willing to pass along? I have a list of 2 dozen profiles that would work to look like DP and I don't think they will send us that many profiles and photos.

This will be my first time trying and i'm REALLY excited and cannot wait to experience all of this!

have had great experiences with this bank... it's a small operation, and can be hard to get in touch with Joanne, but my advice is to *just keep trying*! she is sweet but can seem a little spacey sometimes. she is very helpful, just ask all the questions you want! i have long profiles for: 038 (superdonor), 188, 190, 216, 307, 336, 345 (our donor), 372, 380, & 414. if you PM your email address and a list of the profiles you want, i will gladly send them to you! also, have you checked out the babycenter.com midwest group? it's private but there is a group of us that are using MWSB and everyone there has lots of info about lots of the donors!!
also, just an FYI: they don't provide pics of the donors, not adult or adolecent. you can send a pic of your DP and they will match for you, but we didn't every feel comfortable letting someone else make that decision. another FYI, in case you didn't already know this, they are non-release ID even after the child is 18yo. that wasn't important to us but i know it's important to some ppl. oh and one more thing, they only sell IUI ready vials BUT they do send all of the supplies to do an at home IUI! (though we never did one at home...)
GOOD LUCK!!

038

Im using 038 Next week for my IUI in the RE office. Does anyone know his most recent counts? I have heard he is super sperm donor and has maybe 20-30 offspring thus far. I have been using NW for my first three home insems but havent been successful so Ive decided to go full medical intervention with clomid and HCG trigger with an IUI in the office. Im approaching 40 and just am not willing to waste anymore time.

BTW Ive had great interactions with Joanne and Vicky. They have been super responsive and I have spoken with them 5 or so times in the last 48 hrs. Actually they have called me more than I have called them to report updates and tracking numbers. I think they are great, NW was great too, Midwest has better prices and I have heard better counts and motility. We shall see.........

038

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant by donor 038. I had an in office IUI and got pregnant on my first month of trying. I did the basics, so I didn't pay for counts or motility, but he must be a super donor.

I am getting ready to order from Midwest and my top choices are

038

307

405

414

I know 038 is a "super donor" and that 307 has reported pregnancies but does anyone know about 405 or 414?

Two of our good friends have a beautiful and healthy 3 month old from super donor #38, and my partner and I will be using Midwest when we start trying in a few months.  .  We were thinking of #38 before we knew our friends' donor number, too!

We did use donor 188 but it was a BFN. we did insemation at home. It was disappointing to us and we stopped trying now. we found that The Chicago Womens Health Center does IUI and IVI so we are currently there. I had my first IUI today with donor 414, the sample was very good, we got to look at out little swimmers under the microscope and my husband got to inject me so it was very special. the healthcare worker assured us that our timing was great and everything was good far as my cervix being opened and having lots of fertile mucus. Today was a great day. I go back at 8am tomorrow for my second IUI then we are in the two week wait. I'm very nervous but I have to put my faith in god that he will bless us with our first baby.

I was reading through these posts and just wanted to chime in.  Someone mentioned that 038 has like 20-30 kids, I think it's more in the several hundreds, not joking.

I think Midwest is a great bank, but I think Joanne pimps out a handful of donors who have been successful especially 038.  I don't think her policy on limiting the # of offspring is ethical.  She limits the # in a certain area but not # of offspring from the particular donor.

That said, the quality of the specimens is great.  I got pregnant on the 3rd try (2nd well timed insemination).  We have a beautiful, smart, healthy daughter.  But I feel if $$ weren't a factor, we probably would have went with a bank who limits the offspring in a better manor.

we went to our second IUI and it was very uncomfortable. The first IUI went great the cath. went in very smoothly and it was perfect but this 2nd IUI was alittle painful and the the person performing the IUI couldn't find the inner OS and was poking around it finally the cath got in but was painful and the person just injected the sample and didn't finish putting the cath into the uterus i believe the tip of the cath was just inside the inner os and that was very disappointing. I pray to god that I do have success this time because I do not want to go through that again. it felt worse than a pap smear. I am blessed and I thank the lord for giving us this opportunity to go through this and have a chance to have an IUI. So I am in the two week wait and have put everything into gods hands.

I am new to this and I am really excited, I contacted mwsb a few months ago and then decided to wait a little while longer. Now I am ready to try for the first time. The paperwork she has a physician sign is faxed then you can order your vials? I am just a little confused on the process and would love any clarification.  plus I dont think I want to go with 038 or 097 because they have too many children and Im not sure if I want that, but I would love to get pregnant on the first/second try.  Thanks shy.gif

michandc: yes. after you fax over the form, you can order your swim team. after 7 unsuccessful tries at home we moved to IUI in office with donor 345 (he's fairly new, therefore doesn't have so many offspring). i got pregnant the first try (sadly ended in a miscarriage) and then on the next try, i got pg again!! i am now 23 weeks pg with a 345 babe. Joanne is pretty good about telling you who's good for at home success and which donors are "super donors".
best of luck to you!

Michandc--the only thing about #345 is that although he may not have too many kids yet, I know there are at least three of us on this board (including Wehrli) using him, and probably many more out in the rest of the world.  He's getting a reputation as a good donor, and if things continue there might be many, many babies made using his sperm, so you'll have to decide if that will be an issue for you.  For me, it isn't.  I want to get pregnant and I'm happy to take the risk that there are many donor siblings out there in exchange for 'super sperm' that might speed up the process.  As 2mamas2010 mentioned, the limits Midwest sets on number of donor babies is location-specific, rather than a general cap, while other banks might do things differently.  The only problem I forsee with lots of donor sibs is that if my kids want to hunt down their donor and manage somehow to do it they will probably not be the first, and by that point the thrill of meeting unknown children may have worn off and they won't get a good reception.

Once you send in the forms you can call or email and ask for the long forms (if you don't have them already) and choose your donor.  I'd suggest sending in a long list of options, since some of the ones we'd looked at on the internet weren't really available when we wanted to start.  Choose your guy and call to confirm that he's available, and tell them when you need it shipped.  We paid ahead for three months because we had some extra cash and wanted it to be ready when we were with no disappointments, but you can also just pay each time.  If you live in Chicago you can arrange to pick it up at Joanne's house. If not you fax them the shipping information and tell them when it needs to arrive, and they'll send it to you in a little tank with the syringe and instructions (though you probably want to look for more detailed ones first so you know what to do in case you get nervous).  When you're done you put the tank back into its box, tape it up, and drop it off at FedEx with the return label that comes with it.  And then you wait for 2 weeks and try really hard not to go on onesie-buying binges.  Good luck!
