Several years ago a friend of mine made a very bad choice and had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. Since then she has been extremely unhealthy. Recently she has had awful blood sugar problems and problems digesting most foods. Her Dr has advised her not to have dairy, vegetables, fruit, grains, or breads. Honestly I do not know what she is eating! Do you think that a traditional foods diet and maybe a gluten free diet would be helpful to her? Do you think some lacto-fermented foods and cultured dairy could bring her guts back to health so she could digest food and eat? Throw any ideas at me that you have. Thanks.

*sigh*
I also had gastric bypass surgery a few years ago. I've been lucky, I've never had problems digesting things except sugar (which is fine) BUT I feel SO SO SO much better having switched to a TF diet, or I guess in the process of switching. I can't say I regret my decision, but I don't know if I were in the same shoes if I would do it again.
After my surgery I was eating very little for about a year, and was pretty tired and sick a lot. I spent my second year taking two naps a day PLUS nine hours at night, I was NOT nourishing my body well at all.
I think that TF is probably a good choice for her in healing what is left of her gut. but a lot of gbp patients have a hard time digesting protein, it just sits in their stomach for hours, and for many raw fruits and veggies are all together.

Actually, I just came across a yahoo group for those who have had gastric bypass surgery and are following a TF diet. I think I searched the groups for "Weston Price" and it was one of the first groups to come up. Perhaps they'd have some helpful information.
