Just wondering if anyone is doing this or has done it? I have read a lot about it and am considering it. Just wanted to hear of any experiences you may have had!

nope, just waiting on clamping/cutting until the placenta has detached.

we're banking cord blood so we'll be clamping and cutting too.

my baby was cuddling the placenta in the ultra sound which left me really wanting to do lotus birth but i'm not going to. i have a history of depression so i am eating my placenta instead. m midwifes will make half of it into pills and half into tincture for me. i think lotus birth is awesome though and if i didn't want the option of placenta medicine in case of ppd i would totally do a lotus birth.

How are the midwives doing this? Do you care to ask? I'd be very interested!

for the pills they dry the placenta and grind it into powder and put it into capsules. for the tincture they put it in alcohol they say the tincture will last for really longtime and is helpful during menopause and the pills have a much shorter shelf life.i think they will also leave a small piece of it in m house in case i want to eat some before the pills are ready. i know my birthing instructor who also does placenta preparation and made hers into a tincture
ate some of hers a few days after her baby was born cuz she was feeling kinda of emotionally, she said her mom (who is my midwife) fried it up with some egg and that when you need it i tastes really good. the next day her mom gave her some to eat and it tasted really bad because she her body no longer needed it.

considered a lotus birth, but I too decided to go the available-to-eat option. I am just going to freeze mine and then deal with tincturing/capsulizing it later. We are definitely not clamping/cutting until the placenta is born though.

Moonfroggy - that is so interesting about it tasting good/bad!
