i was whittling wood earlier today and the knife slipped so i got to go to er and get stitches. i never had stitches before and now i have 12 on my left middle finger. i luckily missed tendons and stuff but need to see a hand surgeon n a few days to make sure everything heels fine and then go back to get stitches removed or i can remove them myself if i want. it was an adventure and my hand is still very numb. i'm a little worried about pain when it wears off. i have been very anti any sort of medication but if it hurts a lot and effects sleep i will be taking tylonal if i need it i guess.
also it is better to not get my hand to wet so i the doctor said i can tape a glove on my hand for the water birth. the nurse smiled at me and seemed to think a home water birth is very cool the only reason that came up was because i asked about my hand getting wet. some wetness is ok and washing it with soap and water is good just not like submerged for long periods of time and stuff. everyone at er was really nice to me and the nurse commented that the doctor did a really good job on the stitches
. anyhow that was my big adventure i am still feeling a bit hyper from it but sleepy and hungry to so maybe after lunch i will take a nap.

Goodness! I'm glad the knife missed all the important bits.

I'm glad it won't interfere with the birth tub!

Oh No...I hope your hand/finger heals well.

Does it get you out of doing dishes?

Wow, hope there isn't to much pain, and glad in won't interfere w/ your birth.

BTW what were you whittling?

Ouch! I am glad nothing serious was wounded. That is great that you can just wear a glove for your birth! Speedy healing to you!

well i am lucky in that my partner does not mind doing dishes and i hate doing them so i rarely wash dishes as it is (i did work as a dish washer for 3.5 years though so i have done a lot of dish washing in my life). if i was the normal dish washer i doubt i could do it though. i am getting help with some stuff since i can't do a whole lot with my left hand right now.
