Well, what DO you have in the house?

Pasta? Rice? What kinds of veggies? Any special food intolerances or preferences in your house?

If you have bread. I think I am out of processed GM white bread. (hubbys favorite! )

Honestly, I dont think we'll be having dinner. :

Cause I am NOT going to the store by myself with my little monkeys.

Just wanted to give a shout out to the "what's for dinner" threads in the vegan and vegetarian forum. There are tons of yummy meatless meal ideas there.

I just took a block of frozen ground beef out of the freezer, put it in a pan with a little water to thaw it. Then I made chili. I didn't have enough kidney beans, so I threw in garbanzos.

A lot of nights we don't have regular meals for dinner, just graze on whatever is here. The kids claim to want dinner, but then I make it and they won't eat it. One night I made chicken and noodles in a peanut sauce and I told my daughter that was what we were having and she was fine with the idea. When she actually saw it, however, she sat and cried at the table, saying things like, "that's not food, that's barf. But it's disgusting, I can't eat that!" So my husband told her she didn't need to cry, no one was going to make her eat it. And then she was all, "But I'm hungry!" Spluh! She sure has a funny way of showing it.

She ended up having raw cauliflower and a banana for dinner.

Super easy:
Beans (2 cans), rice (3 cups cooked).
Mix with a small jar of salsa. Top with cheese.

If you want, wrap in a tortilla and add lettuce.

Your mistake was mixing everything together before serving it. Had there been plain noodles, plain chicken, and peanut sauce available to pour over it, she probably would have eaten noodles and chicken.

This is so bad but we are having chicken and bacon taquitos, a texmex style salad (with beans, dressing made of sour cream and salsa), and maybe some rice.

Spaghetti is often an easy and cheap dish for us. I already have lots of spices so I can fuss up the tomato sauce nicely. I'll add veggies that we like if we've got them (onions, mushrooms, zucchini, etc) and cheese on top makes it a kid favorite.

No allergies/intolerances.
I don't have any cooked or canned beans. No tortillas. No tomato soup Maybe I can make some from crushed tomatoes.....

I do have pasta, sauce, rice, frozen veggies, bread, eggs, milk. All the basics, really....maybe I'll make pancakes! I just couldn't think beyond meat...want something easy...my alternative meals to meat are usually egg-based or pizza, pasta...thanks for all the suggestions!

We do something similar here - cook the beans in onions, garlic, and cumin, then mix together with cooked rice. Roll it up in a tortilla, add shredded cheese and bake for a few minutes to melt cheese.
