I have PPD (got a prescription for Zoloft before my Medicaid ran out, doesn't seem to be helping) and no insurance,as DH is at a job that doesn't offer it. Anyone have any clue if there is anywhere I can go? It got better when I was able to begin breastfeeding when my baby was 5 weeks old (emergency C/S due to placenta previa & placental abruption at 35 weeks, almost lost baby & myself, then almost lost baby again at 6 days old) but after he was hospitalized again for a virus a few weeks ago the nursing relationship has really suffered. Am feeling like such a failure and sooo depressed. I know I need to seek help but don't know where to go.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Maybe you can go to the health department. I went during my pregnancy and it was nice. When i went in for my 6 w pp checkup they asked about depression. Maybe they can help or at least tell you where you can get help.

Hoping someone has some ideas
I too have no insurance. I have a 2yr old, 4 yr old, and pregnant with my third...& terribly depressed and angry. I am scared to get help because of money...but mostly because I'm afraid of what could happen (being labeled, getting drugs that turn out to be dangerous, having someone take my kids away.)

Please, please call the local mental health resource in your community. Most hospitals have resources that are free, or community counseling. Even if you have no insurance, most therapists also offer a sliding scale for treatment.
The bottom line is, DON'T do NOTHING. You must get help especially if you recognize that need in yourself. It will not get better without treatment, and untreated PPD usually turns into long term depression or a relapse later. Please get the counseling and/or medication that you need.
