Simple pleasures

Thread Starter
With all the vents and aches and rants I tend to let out here and IRL, I though it was time to start a thread dedicated tot he things we are really enjoying lately.

- I finally finished the hat that is part of an outfit I'm making for Baby. It's so cute and was so easy. Pretty good quality for being my first attempt at sewing from a pattern.

- Taking a warm shower in the cold morning. Having to keep my head out of the water for a minute for the conditioner, it got all cold and it ws just a wonderful, comfortable feeling to put my head under the warm water and feel the cold rinse down my back.

What's yours?

I got a baby present from the staffing company we use at work. Totally random - I wasn't expecting that at all. Nice of them to think of me!

Being able to stay in my nightgown all day if I darn well please (I was a slug today after a very busy weekend)

Mmm...showers are good too. (However, it's hot here, so it's not long before I'm sweating again!)

Reading library books to my kiddos and seeing them light up with new interests.

Desserts! Candy, chocolate, ice cream, cranberry slushes from Sonic...

I just finished sewing some curtains for our bedroom. I am so happy about this since I am planning a HB and really couldn't have the baby in our bedroom with no curtains (or towels taped over the windows! ) Talk about scandalizing the neighbors!

Great idea! Here are mine:

--taking it easy and feeling like its the right thing to do
--getting my ankels back (I travelled to Phoenix, they swelled-up to an unbelievable size, I have been soaking my feet in epson salts, and they are back to normal--I'm so excited)
--snuggling with my dog and reading a good book
--cuddling with DH, and having him put his hand on my belly to feel movement, or his ear to try to hear the baby, and seeing his face light up
--going into the nursery--its not done yet, but everything is so cute and its so peaceful and I can just picture the babe in my arms nursing, or playing on the floor...

-- the autumn leaves turning colors
-- sitting on the sofa with Dylan and watching the spider who has constructed a huge web across our deck going about her routine
-- my prenatal yoga class
-- bagels with cream cheese, tomato and onion
-- admiring the baby's room, which is set up, stocked with clothes and diapers, and (unlike the rest of the house) clean and organized!

-Having both children nap today, though not at the same time (still...extremely rare these day!)

-Getting a free drink coupon at Starbucks after very frustrating and crappy service.

-Talking to dh on the phone and IM'ing frequently.

-Having friends to share a pot of soup with (since it's no fun to cook for one.)

-Putting the final touches (snaps) on cute small AIO's and loving how they turned out!

-Mercer Mayer books...just rediscovered the joy of these simple children's classics!

- DD taking a nap today so I could get a nice long hot shower by myself without worrying that the house was being destroyed.

- DH telling me how much he's planning on sending me once the paychecks get regular

- I have friends that love me enough to bag up my mountains of leaves for free.

- My kids talk to the baby, and DD pats my belly and kisses and "talks" to the baby

- Hugs from DSS and the random kiss on the cheek (big deal because of his sensory problems)

- Folding prefolds can be theraputic. I have 3 doz +3 I just finished.

- I'm almost done with laundry for a few days!

- After looking in the hospital bag I could leave now and be ok except for a baby outfit and pants for me.

Taking a bubble bath with my daughter tonight, and getting all gussied up together after - clipped nails, put on lip balm and lotion, and even cleaned out our ears. It was scrumptious.

The cool, crisp weather; opening up the windows and letting it into the house.

Having my DD give me kisses and say, "Love you, mummy."

Having a DH that still, even in my waddling pregnant state, tells me he thinks I'm beautiful every day.

-the changing leaves...what a great season fall is!
-having a potential buyer for our home (after having been on the market for 5 weeks)
-my silly, giggly little boy
-DH, who always puts my needs before his own (what a good example for me.......)
-tall, decaffeinated, organic milk Cinnamon Dolce Lattes from Starbucks
-the knowledge that within six weeks this baby will be OUT!!!

-having a fun morning over my friends house and watching our sons decorate halloween cookies together

-DH getting a nice bonus and using it to buy a second toddler car seat for his car so they can go out together w/o me when the baby is here

-a cool breeze on a hot day

-we saw a big rainbow this weekend

-DH brought me a few German chocolates from a friend at work who just got back from Germany

-a nice cup of RRL tea every morning

-anticipation of a new life

Having a few "free" hrs this afternoon (RARE)

hearing DS2's "favorite thing" he did every day at tuck in time

Heck, hearing DS2 say ANYTHING since many told us this would "never happen"... we showed THEM! HA!

Clean Laundry

breakfast with a very dear and old friend..

sitting with DH for an hr or so in the eve . just us.. for now!

fall apples... mmmmm, Weinsap stamens yummmmmmmm

watching DS2's flag football game (again , was told... NEVER EVER possible)

Marvelling at my 6' 2" DS1 and wondering how he became so grown up??

peacful and quiet house (for now!)

I could go on and on.. we are VERY aware and appreciative of the "little" things in life.. hint: they're the BIG things, really..

Oh! Palm trees. Seeing two of them shooting up taller than the conifers in the area. I have always loved palm trees and now I have them "in my back yard!" (though I am glad they're NOT in my back yard as they can be so messy and dangerous when not properly cleaned off)

What a great idea!

Chocolate chip cookies, with no one to have to share with... (and knowing we'll all enjoy some tomorrow together too)

Watching my oldest finally come into his own with friends and talk on the phone and socialize

seeing my two little ones behave so lovingly and creatively together. (makes it easier to forget when they don't lol)

knowing that I'll be holding my little girl soon

sitting in my room, just looking at the shelves full of her things, knowing it's really happening

seeing my dh play with the boys, it is just so wonderful to watch

Today, finding out that while a nice hot soak in the tub doesn't make contractions go away, they make them not be so uncomfortable.

The shock and awe and subsequent questions from one of my newly pregnant moms at work when DD climbed up in my lap and asked for milk while I was giving her the breastfeeding benefits talk. Especially since she wasn't all that interested in breastfeeding to begin with, but seemed to want to give it a try after talking with me.

Eating ice cream after the kids are asleep!
