Oh - my - gosh - the - itching.

I've read about this, and I guess it's started - the belly-stretching thing - because it started itching this morning and it hasn't let up. And my boobs are slowly starting to get in on the action. GAH! I don't have any cocoa butter at work, but you better believe I'm bringing some in tomorrow. I'm just rubbing my belly in circles, rather obsessively, to avoid scratching it like a madwoman!

Anyone else have the belly-stretch itchies?

mine is on my back and on my sides. I can feel the dry patches, I wish I had the control you did not to itch like a crazy person. I was itching madly and caught my finger in a stretch mark and OUCH! I try really hard to be less psycho on the itchies now.

Itchy here, too! I think I get itchier with each pregnancy!

It's not so much itching as it is that my skin just plain feels too tight! I'm not particular about it having to be cocoa butter, lately; cooking oil will do if that's all I can get my hands on when I need the grease, because I really need it! Lotion won't work. I'd probably use motor oil if that was all that was available. It drives me nuts!

I tried some special stretch mark cream stuff...sure it is just marketing but it made a wonderful difference...and try putting it on right after you get out of the shower, when the skin is extra receptive.
that and I just scratch like a monkey.

NOS, I love the "I'd probably use motor oil if that's all that was available" -

I actually use coconut oil at night (with shea butter) and a cocoa butter body oil stuff right after I shower in the morning. And...I forgot to bring something to work today. And I was feeling all optimistic, "hey, I won't itch today!" But just reading this, and here we go...

i looooove shea butter! i used cocoa butter for over 10 years until i discovered how much nicer shea butter felt.

i didn't have itchiness until i was 7 1/2 or 8 mo with dd, and it drove me nuts!: it was only at the top of my belly. this time it started last week at 20 wks: the change in weather hasn't helped either. my whole body is dry right now.

Do the itches last the whole pregnancy or is this something that goes away like MS?

sorry to say hon, but it gets worse evryday as your belly grows and the only thing that relives it is birth. it's caused by your skin stretching to accomodate your growing belly.

it was so awful with my boys. this time it isn't so bad. even kind of pleasant. (It sort of helps if I tell myself that)

I realized today that I can feel my belly stretching, but it's not bothering my belly skin, just my sides a little. But my actual ab muscles are screaming. I feels like they just won't release, like my whole core won't relax. I feel like I've been in a perpetual crunch since June. If I'm walking anywhere I need to take a minute and just lean forwards to let it all stretch because I can feel it getting tighter and tighter.
AHHHH....
Is this a 1st pregnancy thing? Or am I a giant freak of nature?

My belly is ok so far but my BOOBS are making me NUTS! I'm sure I'm breaking laws with my constant boob grabbing to relieve the horrible itch.
