I'm a nutball :) 36 week homebirth thing...

The MW said I can deliver at home at 36 weeks and that totally wigged me out! As if it's given me permission to have this baby in 3 weeks. Like it's just going to happen that way, you know?

Anyone else?

I would rather wait longer than that to be on the safe side because I still think I am due a week after that, (they're using the 33 week gestation instead of 32.)

We know you are a nutball...

I was told I had to make it to 35 weeks to have the girls w/ my doc at our hospital...but they didn't come then. But, I totally understand what you are saying. The whole "twins usually come early, between 36-38 weeks" thing has me wigging out and hoping they do come around 37ish weeks, b/c I'm not sure I can stand to be so pregnant a whole lot longer.

Anyway, I getcha.

I'm seeing this sentiment all over this DDC - hence the reason I started the 'when will you give birth' thread. I don't think you're the only one who feels that way!

I have to get to 36 weeks to have my baby where I live. If not I have to be med flighted to a real hospital. It's scaring me to death that I could have a baby any week now! I am so not ready!

And yes, you are a nutball.

Shall I change this post to a poll on who thinks I am a nutball?

I am 36 weeks today, which is when my MW will do a homebirth- So I went to bed after midnight last night thinking, "Ahhh. OK, she can come now." : Of course I don't WANT her to come yet, but it's nice knowing that at least if she decides to it will be OK!

It would be unanimous.

but then we think nutball is a complement around here!

I will be 37 weeks Thursday and technically a go for a home birth-too weird! Of course with my history my midwife and I aren't expecting anything for a bit!

I'm also hoping to go longer than 36 weeks, but of course, I'd just rather go longer than the 35+ I went with Matt... And really, I just want a non-nicu baby. I so want to leave the hospital asap!

Well I am 35 weeks now and I have a home visit in two days. Not sure when my MW will say we are a go for a home birth but I am 38 weeks (when DS came) on Halloween (DS is a thanksgiving baby LOL) and so I am thinking that would be just perfect. It then gives me at least 6 weeks to heal up and hubby to get home! LOL

If baby comes late though, sooner I get help around here from the hubby....

So bedroom life or house help? Yes I am sooooo selfish. LOL Hubby is thinking Bedroom life or holding newborn...... LOL We are happy to let baby pick for us, but we are thinking..... hehehehehe

Careful now - we don't want to see you posting in the September '08 DDC!

36wk is when my m/w will deliver at home, too, so i totally get this feeling even though i am pretty sure i will go 'late.' i'm 34wk now and we made 36wk our deadline for getting the renovations done since it seemed as good a deadline as any, so that exacerbates feeling like something is going to happen in 2 weeks instead of 6.

i can't believe some of us are ALREADY 36wk! when did that happen?? :

I'm 34 weeks right now, and I have -3 weeks until I can have a homebirth! wow.
I had the same feeling when I asked my midwife.. I mean, that's NEXT WEEK!!! I REALLY don't think this little one is going to arrive next week but it's so weird to think that I'm already to the point where I could have a homebirth if they did!

If feel the same. At halloween I will be 36 weeks and since this baby doesn't act like he wants to stay in forever that is when I have decided I WILL be ready. Ha! I haven't even ordered my birth kit or washed clothes, or ordered some extra diapers, or really done anything AHHHHH! So the next few weeks are really for preparing.
Of course I want baby to stay in until ready...but to get to the "safe" mark will make me feel much better! I just figure I am due in November...anytime in November.

My MW schedules the 36 week appt at your home, mine is this Sunday. I keep thinking, whoa, 36 weeks! That seemed so far along when I made the appt... how can I be so far along already??? Even though I don't think I will deliver until 41 weeks, it is weirding me out. Plus I am trying to have all my birth supplies ready by the appt so I can show her where they will be, and that feels good but weird too. So I totally get how you are feeling!

tara, my midwife has the same protocol. we have our 36wk home visit scheduled for 2 thursdays from now (so i will be 36w2d, technically) and she requests all the supplies and stuff be ready so she can get acclimated to the house, know where everything is, etc. nuts!!

I'm 35weeks 5days, so that means only nine more days until I can give birth at the birth center! Woo hoo!

Wait--NINE MORE DAYS?! Did I really just type "nine more days until I can GIVE BIRTH?" I seriously had never done that calculation until just now...

Deep breath...add me to the nutball club...and I'm off to wash some more baby clothes (or something else similarly nesty and helpful)...
Well, I guess I'll join the club. Even though I don't anticipate the arrival of this baby until week 39, I told my mom today that I'll be technically full-term (37 wks) and that this little girl can come anytime she wants after my next appt. in 2 weeks! My mom was like "what?!?" You can't have a baby in 2 weeks. I said "well, technically, I could have a baby at the birth center in 2 weeks, but I don't really expect her to come for another 3-4 weeks." Even 3 weeks sounds way too close though!
