crashing at costco

My husband is on at least one crutch and a leg brace for two more weeks... fortunately, he can drive now, and take Dylan to and from daycare, and empty the dishwasher, and hop around the kitchen fixing meals. But some things are still not feasible for him. Among them are taking out the garbage cans and groceries -- and anything else that combines walking with carrying things. As his mobility is increasing, mine is decreasing. I think in the next week or so we are going to cross paths and he will be in better shape.

I went to Costco today and it completely wiped me out. About halfway through I realized that I had the shakes and Dylan and I tore into a bag of pita chips. That staved off a major crash, but unloading the car and getting things into the kitchen was enough to turn my abdomen into one big ball of Braxton Hicks.

I think that Costco runs and taking out the recycle are two things that just won't get done until Jonny is healed enough to do them. I don't want to go into pre-term labor in the middle of Costco!

BTDT!! I do not understand how I used to make it thru a day at work and survive. But then again, being home now is probably how I have stayed off bedrest for PIH or toxemia. Today is one of those days and I have literally been resting all day. I feel for you having to get groceries and attending a toddler!

Yuck! How awful! I know exactly what that's like.

I have found that I crash if I go anywhere in the afternoon. I make all my appts. now in the morning and don't do anything at all in the afternoon. (Poor DD.) It has made a big difference! Now I can handle dinner, dishes, and bedtime without feeling like a mess.

Ack! That's miserable! How long until your DH is able to take over?

A work day is a piece of cake... sitting behind my desk all day! The staff and volunteers have gotten very solicitous about bringing things to me so that I don't have to get up.

Doing stuff around the house is another story... especially with a toddler and living in a split level (the stairs! the stairs!).

Lindsey, my husband can put 50% of his weight on his leg right now, and needs to keep using a crutch and the leg brace. We won't need another Costco run for a looooooooong time, and he might be able to help me with the enormous recycle bin in 1.5 weeks. But I'm still on grocery duty for at least the next week. The end is in sight though, thank god. By the time I'm at 37 weeks, he should be back to all his old chores... and hopefully taking over a few of mine as well!

Shopping has been horrible for me for months now and I only do costco with a friend incase I get so dizzy and sick that I have to go sit in the van or worse, crash on the floor of where ever I am in the store. My friend has been laughing at how quick I do costco runs now as she is a shopper and I just am not even normally. She does know I am not trying to rush her but rather trying not to pass out on her. LOL

I have no guy to help out at all so I very much understand. Thankfully though my DD is helpful to some extent. Still, nothing like a guy to help out. I hope yours heals up fast hun. I am sure not being able to do more is making him some nuts too!

Blessings,
Kimmy

Ya know, every time I've gone to Costco lately I can barely get out of the car once I get home. Honestly, I called DH from the garage on my cell phone to have him help me in the house the other day :

Its funny, but certain stores set me off. I can't seem to enter a Home Depot for more than 10 minutes without passing out. I think its because they don't do much temperature control there in the summer, so it tends to be hot and stuffy in there. Club stores are tough too because they are HUGE and then you have to lift all the heavy super-sized boxes of stuff. I tried to get a 40 pound pail of kitty litter into my cart the other day--it was really a pathetic scene.

So sorry for your crash--try travelling with protein bars in your purse--they are my saving grace for blood sugar crashes.

Yep. I go nowhere without a granola bar and a bottle of water in my purse. (I got tired of paying for already eaten food at the grocery store checkout line. )

My problem is that I keep seriously overestimating my energy level. I had a "good day" Saturday and overdid things so I spent Sunday and Monday curled in a ball.
