DS driving me !!!crazy!!!

He's less than 3 months old, but for the past week he has gotten worse at his 'bad habit' of feeding and falling asleep. Now he feeds for like a minute and then falls asleep. I've tried everything to keep him awake, then when I put him down he immediately starts crying and trying to nurse, but then when I nurse him, he does the same thing again! It's really getting on my nerves, I'm wondering if he's just doing the nursing for comfort, as he doesn't do this every time he feeds.

ARGH..he's doing it right now....

maybe you could try nursing him lying down? then when he falls asleep you can sneak away while he has his nap? That way he doesn't feel the transition of arms to bed.

it's not uncommon for a 3mo to nurse to sleep. are there other issues such as low/no weight gain? it seems from your post that he feeds fine at other times, so perhaps this is just some comfort nursing. That is perfectly normal and healthy, especially at this age. Babies need to suck.

Yeah, he sucks allright. I usually do that (nursing while laying down then sneaking away, but then he many times wakes up as soon as I take the nipple out of his mouth...blarrgh. He's been gaining really well, I just don't want to get him into having an 'oral fixation'....

When the weather gets cooler, I'll just sling him, but for now it's way too hot in here for that since we don't have AC and he sweats very easily.

I guess it's just a 'phase' right? I don't want to give him a pacifier at all, I really don't wanna.

All babies have an oral fixation. Their survival depends on it. But yes, this too shall pass.
