good thoughts?

So Sunday night I was a bit crampy but didn't think anything of it. Yesterday I was still crampy and started noticing some uterine tightening. Then this morning I woke up, still feeling the tightness, and I'm feeling this weird sensation in my vagina that feels sort of like pressure. I'm nervous.

My OB gets in at 10am EST and they told me to be there at 10 and I think I'm the first person he'll be seeing. As that's about the same time I'd probably get to L&D I was fine with that, it means that if nothing is wrong and this is normal we don't have to pay an ER copay

the best part, my first pregnancy ended at 24 weeks but that was because of pre-e. So for all I know this is completely normal because I've never experienced labor before. or it could be really bad and I'm the most unlucky pregnant woman alive. I'm only 20w5d today.

anyway good thoughts would be appreciated...I'll update once I get back

I'll say a prayer for you! Are you staying well hydrated? My midwife says that dehydration is a major cause of preterm contractions. She also says that even though I drink water all day long and think I'm doing a great job in that department, every time I pee on her stick it shows that I need to be drinking more. So, the moral of the story is, you might not be drinking enough water even if you think you are, lol!

I was having the same sort of sensation the other day- it went away though. I think the baby was kicking my cervix and that was the strange vaginal sensation I was feeling. I have been trying to stay extra hydrated and I've been taking my magnesium everytime I feel crampy.

As a pp said, drink as much water as you can, and lie down on your left side and just try to relax and do some visualizations of your cervix being closed. Sending some good full-term vibes your way...

More positive vibes here! It's 10:30, so hopefully we'll get a good update from you soon...

and full-term vibes coming your way! I hope it's just normal, late pregnancy stretching and practicing that you aren't familiar with, but I certainly understand the ned to have it checked out under the circumstances. I am terrified of having to go through what you and Sydney survived and my memory isn't that great, but I do recognze my own uterine tightening and cervix crampiness as normal. I'm not very good at describing it, so I wouldn't be much help.

Who-hoo!! It is just uterine irritability. Never thought I'd be excited about that The OB thinks it's perfectly normal, although he was totally okay with me being paranoid, too. haha. He also thinks that putting me on bedrest would do no good because, as he put it, "if you're going to go into preterm labor, lying down won't stop it." So I"m supposed to take it easy and drink a lot of water.

And my blood pressure was only 122/78 which, for someone whose first pregnancy ended in pre-e at 24 weeks, is fantastic

It was so nice to have a reassuring appointment. Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts.

Yay!!!! That's awesome. I'm so glad to read a happy update Hooray!

Whew! Talk about money well spent on THAT appointment! You are so going to enjoy the rest of your NORMAL full term pregnancy and have more fun during your birth than I, who have had three full-term healthy homebirths and no premies or PTL scares whatsoever, can even imagine.

You are one brave, strong mama.

yaay!!!

What a relief, huh? It is really normal to have more and earlier uterine toning contractions with a second pregnancy, but with your history, I would have gotten it checked out, too! Glad you're feeling more confident in your healthy pregnancy.
