finally starting to pack...

I've got a pile for the hospital for me, and I'm working on baby's stuff now!

What are you hospital birthing mama's bringing to wear post birth? We are hopefully doing a same day check out...but, I'd rather be prepared for a couple of days.

Right now I've got a pile of old fleece pants and comfy shirts, nothing at all nice, stuff that I really should just burn. TMI- I had quite a bleed with DS, and was covered from the waist down for days as no one seemed to care to clean me up...:

If we stay, I don't think I will have any visitors beyond family, so I really dont care what I have on...

Is this weird?

No, I don't think it's weird. I'm taking something to wear home (very very baggy pants and comfy shirt) and some nursing tanks, but I'm really just planning to wear the hospital gowns. Between bleeding and dragging home dirty laundry, it just doesn't seem worth it to take in a bunch of my own clothes... I am bringing my own clothes to birth in, although I don't know if I'll use them or not. I'm really not to bothered about hanging out in a hospital gown. They're designed well for nursing and I don't have to wash them!

The only people that visited me last time were my mom, sis, and doula. And all the various pediatricians, gyns, midwives, lactation specialists, social workers, nurses, and the Prime Minister of Burundi. I received all guests in my hospital gown.

I'm packing as though I may have another c-section, just because on top of everything else, it was a PITA to have to worry about running out of meds last time, and my husband only had one pair of socks with him.

I'm packing maternity yoga pants bc that's all I can fit into right now and I don't want to be disappointed that I don't fit into anything AFTER this baby is out either. I am packing a somewhat decent top for pictures. I love the going-home pictures from DD. I was so happy!

I've got sweats and baggy shirts packed to wear at the hospital and home.

I would just wear the hospital gown, but those things are a total pain in the butt to nurse in! I mean...it opens in the back, so unless I want to lift the entire thing up to nurse, it's a joke. And, I'm going to be doing A LOT of nursing, so I want something easy, kwim?

The maternity gowns where I'm birthing have snaps on each shoulder. How much does that rock???
That totally rocks! I'm jealous!

I can't stand the hospital johnnys (even though our hospital does have the ones with the snaps on the shoulders for wasy nursing). They are just so uncomfortable, are way too huge to move around easily, are all scratchy, etc. I'm lookking for a cheapie nightgown to wear for labor that has buttons or something at the top so I can nurse easily right away. I'm bringing a pair of nursing PJs for after I'm cleaned up, and then just a maternity outfit to wear home.

If my due date were earlier than yours, I would swipe one to send you.

I can't stand hosp gowns!! We also have the ones with the snaps - they are made for a 400lb man though!! Seriously, I'd rather be wrapped in a sheet - it might cover more!

I'm bringing two old nursing gowns... one of them is more of a long shirt though. Then to wear home, I've got a top, but not bottoms. I'm thinking my favorite maternity jeans that I've recently expanded out of. That would go very well with the nursing tee I have packed... Oh, that reminds me to pack bras! I have pads in the bag, but nothing to keep them on me. I'm washing girl clothes tomorrow night, so I'll have the baby stuff in the bag and just need to finish getting my own stuff together.

I was just thinking that I really need to get packed . I have two pairs of identical pj sets. The tops have buttons down the front and are about 3 sizes too big but super comfy. Way better than the hosp gowns and I won't care if I have to toss them after the stay from the bleeding. Those, nursing bras, a sweatshirt and yoga pants for travel home and then my mama pads just in case the bleeding isn't awful and I feel like using them from the start.

Our gowns have slits in the front for nursing. I still hate them. I packed Tshirts and a few thin cotton pants, pajama style.
For going home I packed a comfy shirt and big pants, regular not maternity but I was able to wear them til about a month ago, so I figure they'll fit perfect after delivery.
Hijack: What do you guys wear going in? And during labor/delivery? I really hate the gowns but I suppose they are best for easy access.

I'll probaby wear whatever I have on at the time to actually go in... I scored a Binsi for $5 and I have that and a maternity tank packed to labor in, if I feel like it. Last time I labored in a hospital gown.

I went in with reg clothes for DS, but it was an induction...this time, probably nothing I needed to be naked (no idea why...) the entire time I was in labor with DS. My mw kept offering to put a bra on me, or mesh undies, but I needed to let it all hang out...except for my feet - sox, I really like having a pair of fleece sox's on.

I just packed a sports bra in case, and since I am mentally planning on doing most of the work at home, I plan on being naked again in the hospital. I do have a few ribbed like tank tops that I have packed, but nothing for the bottom half. But, I'm a fan of the mesh undies : so I know I will be content in them.

As far as for the ride to the hospital, hmmm, guess whatever is clean at the moment!

I'm going to wear whatever I'm wearing when I go in, but I bought a cotton sleep T today that has buttons about 1/4 of the way down the front, so that's what I plan to wear during the birth. I really don't care if they have a problem with it. I didn't like wearing the hospital gowns. It put me in a submissive frame of mind last time.

Both times before I just wore whatever I had on to go in, then put on the hosptial gown. I'll do the same this time. But then as soon as it's over, I insist on a shower until they finally agree and then put my clothes on.
