Screaming, arching, clamping down...

I need some advice.. my DD is just turning 12 weeks, & has been on Prilosec for reflux since 8 weeks (gained only 4 oz from 5-8 weeks, gained 11 oz from 8-11 weeks), so we've had issues w/not nursing for very long at a time, not wanting to eat because of the reflux, etc. The thing she's been doing in the last week is not only screaming when I know she's hungry & trying to get her to latch, but she'll try to nurse, then arch back in a C shape so hard she pulls off (which really frustrates her & upsets her more). Plus, she often doesn't let go of my nipple, but clamps down as she slides off (ow!) And sometimes she'll just clamp down when she's done nursing & has been on for a while (no warning). She ends up nursing in this weird position, w/her head turned way to one side, & her body draped at a downward angle across me practically lying on her back, her head resting on one of my arms while my other arm braces behind her head. Needless to say, I'm worried about when she gets teeth... Her latch isn't the best either, as she doesn't want to open real wide, but it's such a struggle getting her on, I hate fiddling w/it - & anyhow, sometimes she pops on & off multiple times before she settles in. She only nurses lying down, on the bed at night - otherwise, she has to be in my arms. No bottles or pacifiers ever used, & her sister nursed w/out problems. Suggestions on how to fix any of these problems? Help!

I bet this child needs a chiropractor. I have seen a few babies that get misaligned and refuse to nurse on a side, only nurse in a funny position, etc. I would guess that after a few visits, you will have a new baby!

You can goto the tribes and ask around for a good family chiro.

It sounds like it can be a forceful let down that is doing this, here is some info. Sometimes reflux is diagnosed when this is the real problem:
