Well, someone has named the baby!

A somewhat frivolous thread, but really, we are getting down to the wire and DH and I have not discussed names seriously at all. I printed off the list that I had made for DD last time, with a few more added onto it and handed it to him yesterday and he noted "Silas, I'd forgotten about Silas". Which I take it to mean, that he was not opposed to Silas. Good, because it's still my favourite.

However, DD has rescued us from our indecisiveness. She has named the baby Portia. Yep, Portia. She likes to inform me that "Portia out soon" and "Portia eat boob" and in the bathtub she likes to clean Portia and she is very fond of finding the matching pajamas that I bought for everyone (when did I turn into THAT person?) and grabbing Portia's red and orange striped ones and exclaiming "Portia!".

I have no idea what we'll do if Portia is a boy.

Seriously, I don't mind Portia but DH thinks it's a stripper name. Sigh.

San you explain how you pronounce Silas? I can not seem to get my brain to work tonight. LOL

It took me a moment to figure out Portia as in car was the name your little one wants, I was thinking Port-i-a, as some kind of different name I had not heard before. LOL I need sleep!

I love both Portia and Silas. I like unique names that people don't need help pronouncing lol.

Silas = SYE-less
Portia = POR-shuh, pronounced like Porsche, the car

Portia is a character in The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare.

Great names, BTW!

I like both names.

"Portia eat boob"

If we were talking names more with DS, I knoooow he would be just like your DD! Instead, it's just "beebee".

I love that you have matching pjs for everyone. Not because I think it's the best idea ever, but because I agree with how cheesy it is, but would probably do the same thing myself! I would also ask, "When did I turn into THAT person?"

Well, we have a name, but on the subject of Shakespearean names, DH said we should name this baby Macduff because he is about to be "from his mother's womb untimely ripped!"

Such a way with words, my DH. And the bard, too, I guess.

That would be really cool to name her Portia because her sister suggested it! I think it's a great name -- very cultured.

I don't know if a stripper named Portia would get very far...

Dylan wanted to name his brother Ian, which I was really gunning for, but we decided that it sounded too much like Dylan.

i like both names! and i don't think portia is a stripper name at all; it also makes me think of shakespeare and i think it sounds quite dignified.

i agree that it'd be so cute to name her something her sister suggested.

Wow! I've never run across another one til now (well, a possible one I guess).

Oh, and I forgot to mention that DD named the baby Portia after we read a book that involved a pig named Portia. Perhaps the resemblance to my large pink belly was just too much for her.

It will be interesting to see if your DD is right that it's a girl...my DD insisted from the very beginning that this baby was a boy, and she was right!

And a stripper name! No way! I love it. And Silas too.

I like them both! Portia always reminds me of the daughter in the movie "A Fish Called Wanda"
