OMG. Freaking out.

Thread Starter
It just occurred to me: I am 33 1/2 weeks pregnant. The OB said she will not let me go before 36 weeks if she can stop labor (should I go into labor). This means the baby could be here in as little as 2 1/2 weeks. I AM NOT READY! I have soooo much to do. I am going to have to stay awake from right this second until I am in labor in the hospital in order to get everything done. I think I must be nesting. I don't even so much care about the unimportant stuff like organizing the pots and pans- I have diapers to wash and storage stuff to get out of the baby's room and a basinette to put together and a sling to figure out how to use. And I have to vacuum our windowsills because otherwise the baby will be eating ladybugs. Holy craps, where did the time go? I have no meals prepared for the freezer, no clothes for the baby, no crib mattress, and no shower in my future that will involve the purchase of anything off my registry. HOLY SHYTE. I don't even know if I know how to change a diaper- it has been 15 years! ::

Maybe I should have had decaf today. Boy oh boy, will DH be surprised when he gets home from work and I have a huge "to do" list for him!

Whoah, nelly, take a deep breath there, sister. One thing at a time, and it will all get done. Leave the ladybugs on the window sills, the baby won't be able to reach them for a good 4-5 months anyway. The laundry will do itself, as long as you can get it to and from the machine.

Don't wear yourself out trying to do it all at once, and definitely press your husband, mother, friends, anyone else you can find into service.

And yeah, maybe lay off the caffeine for a couple hours.

Maisie, we're in the same boat. no crib mattress (in fact crib is still in a jillion pieces--thank god my Dad built our baby a cradle...). I haven't washed any baby clothes, we don't have car seat, no freezer meals, haven't investigated daycare options. the baby's room is completely bare and undecorated. (not a top priority at this time, I know...)
so yes, freaking out here, too.

Don't panic! One day at a time.

I totally understand. We just made a to-do list the other day that's like 2 pages long. I'm trying to get everything done at work that I can, and the rest on the weekends - but the last 2 weekends have been taken up with showers, so nothing has gotten done. Try to keep in mind the things that really can wait - like vacuuming the windowsills and learning how to use the sling - you need the baby for that anyway, really. All the baby's going to care about is that you're there and that she's warm and fed.

Hang in there! Know that the rest of us don't have everything done either.

It will be okay! Hopefully baby will hang out in there past 36 weeks and you have a little more time than you think. Even if not, everything important will get done, and honestly the little things that don't get done will not seem like a big deal once baby is here and your hormones settle down. You will remember how to change a diaper. You will figure out your sling once you have a snuggly baby to put in it. You will make your DH vacuum the windowsills and put together the bassinette and haul stuff out of storage. The last minute things you need will appear from one place or another... somehow the universe always seems to provide.

I am calming myself down too, can you tell?

I think sleep should be #1 on your priority list! Enjoy a full night's rest (well, even with five potty breaks) while you can!

I'm right there with you...though I'm quite a bit more prepared it sounds like. Try to relax and take it one thing at a time.

Remember that the baby only needs you, some diapers, and something to keep him/her warm (which could also be you...and a blanket).
