ack! nurses on strike!

Is anyone else affected by the Bay Area Sutter hospital network nursing strike? The nurses begin striking today, and could be locked out until next Tuesday. Eeek! If I went into labor in the next week or so, I would be delivering in a hospital where I would have to cross a picket line, plus the hospital would have a skeleton staff of 'scab' nurses flown in from Georgia.

Ugh. One of the appeals of the hospital where I'm delivering is that the nurses there are very supportive of natural births. Now I just don't know what to expect. Well, I'm only at 39 weeks now...and first babies are on average born after their EDD...crossing fingers...

hugs mama, deep breaths.
I heard on KCBS today that they are just cancelling electives and that Alta Bates has plenty of good nurses. I'm HBing but I thought of all the mamas who would be a little nervous at a nursing strike.
