We lived on them, a wall2wall futons right on the floor, throughout our marriage till last year (when we moved out of NY ... to a place where the bugs are too big for me to sleep on the floor anymore

)
Anyway, they're wonderful and I miss sleeping on them very much. (We've bought actual beds and mattresses now for the first time in our relationship, and they're just not as comfortable as futons on the floor, plain & simple. Sigh.)
The only thing is with futons you have to take care of them a little and you'll get a very long comfortable life out of them. Meaning flip them over ever few weeks, and also turn them around, so that they don't become bumpy from your weight being distributed the same way on 'em all the time. YKWIM?
Like, every other week, flip it over, then two weeks later rotate it 180 degrees, then two weeks later flip it over again, then two weeks later rotate it 180 degrees ...
I mean, you don't
have to do that, but they'll stay very comfortable for a very long time if you do. It's like taking good care of them.
