Pelvic rest? TMI

HI I'll try not to get to personal I have been put on pelvic rest at 23 weeks because of a previa and I am wondering about the no sex rule. Does it mean no intercourse only or no orgasm also? I know they don't want anything poking the placenta but is there also a worry about the contractions after orgasm? 17 weeks is a long time!

Unfortunately, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

I can tell you only that pelvic rest for previa *alone* (without preterm labor) usually only includes sexual intercourse or penetration. Orgasm is usually allowed.

This is something you should clear up with your doctor or midwife. Speak with him/her, as the medical assistants and even nurses in the office may be misinformed.
