Sweet kitties...

I'd heard that dogs can sense when you're pregnant, but I've been surprised at my cats' reactions!

Gabriel has always been a cuddler, but only on his own timetable. He used to come requesting face-cuddles when I got in bed, then he'd curl up by my legs for 5-10 minutes before running off to do something more interesting. But lately he's been tucking himself right up into my belly, and staying there for as long as I'll let him! One night he slept right along side me for a few hours!

And Vassili has never been a cuddle-cat (he was a street cat until he was about 1.5 years old), but now every night he sits with me on the couch, puts his paws up on my thigh, and purrs and purrs...

Ahh, my sweet boys...

Have you guys experienced any interesting pet behaviors for this pregnancy or previous ones?

we don't have a pet now, but when I was pg with my son, we moved into a house with mice (eeeew) and adopted a kitty. I was her absolute favorite person while I was pg...she loved to curl up on my belly. Nice and warm, I guess! When we brought the baby home, she was like : . She hated to hear him cry and would run out of the room when he did. She warmed up to him a bit, but she's just not into people under the age of 10. (Kitty is living with my parents now, and runs away from my little ones when we visit).

My ex's cat would lay in the valley between my preggo belly and my boobs. It was the only time period when I really liked that cat LOL. After the baby was born, the cat would chew the nipples off the bottles, so he ended up on my bad side LOL.

Anyone who has read my siggie knows I have lots of dogs and a couple of cats. Everyone here is a rescue and no one was part of the family when I was pregnant 14 years ago. It has been very interesting to watch how everyone's behavior has changed. My little 3lb Pom won't leave my side. Another Pom who has always been a loner takes every step I take and now sleeps with us. I am without doubt the alpha dog in the house, but I have noticed very significant pack behavior, as if they are assigning each other roles in caring for me... I am very interested to see their behavior during my labor and birth...
As for the cats, they don't like me they love my DH, the cat whisperer

I have 2 cats and 2 kittens and I wake up all hours of the night getting massaged. My one cat who was actually a feral kitten and is not very affectionate is all over me!

That's so sweet! I'm without a kitty now (lost my beloved cat in April) and I miss those snuggles.

my little cat takes care of me when im sick, but shes always been like that.. oh and when i was first pregnant, she would lay half on my stomach and refuse to let dh anywhere near that baby, lol.

my fat cat likes to sleep holding my hand now... he cuddles between me and dh, and if my hand is out, he stretches out his paw to make it fit mine, hes soooooo cute!

During my first pregnancy my cat would curl up on my belly when I was sitting watching TV and purr and it was so soothing. After the baby was born she pretty much went back to her normal cat behavior and slept in the windowsill, whatever, but didn't pay me much mind.
In the last few weeks she has starting to crawl up on my belly every night again. I was so amazed that she tuned right in. Maybe its warmer now, or the movement is giving her a massage... It seems to help me relax though, so I'm thrilled.

Our male cat has always curled-up and cuddled. He's been even more so lately.

Our FEMALE is a real treat, and she is very affectionate with me. She is quite fat (healthy, good food, just lazy) and every day while I'm in bed, she climbs up on to my abdomen and pools herself over my belly and purrrrrrrrrs.

My dogs seem to be pretty oblivious to the whole thing. Then again, they always kind of look dumb so maybe I'm just not noticing it.

My greyhound has been coming up to the side of the bed and standing there staring at me with her tail wagging a lot, but I figured she just wanted some lovins.
