This must be my non-denial denial thing again...

So my EDD is the 25th. Should I be setting up the birth tub soon? I don't have a ton of room here. How do I keep the cat and the kind away from it?Also...

I KNOW that my dd will want to get in it with me if she sees me laboring in it. What do I do about that? I was planning on an herbal bath with the baby in the real tub afterwards(my ideal birth scenario) she'll want to be in that with us too if she's around. Would that be all right?

i'm due the 24th and we just set it up today, got the drinking water hose hooked up to the shower head and I was thinking about doing a dry run maybe friday to see if we need to up the hot water heater temp. i feel like i could have it sooner though, especially since i'm picking up my mom from the airport tomorrow night....

I was thinking I'd have ds join me in the tub if he wants to and it's not tooo intense of a scene. What kind of herbal bath are you going to use afterwards?

I was just thinking I would set my tub up next week. I'm 40 weeks on the 21st, or so, and I'm not feeling like I'll need it set up before then.
dh is trying his hardest. Every night he has a nice long talk with her and she doesn't seem to be listening to her daddy
I'm not sure how to keep my boys out of it, so I'm anxious to hear suggestions.

I was kind of on the same page as you guys, that if she wasn't bothering me it would be okay for her to be in there. I think I will x-post in homebirth and see if we get more responses from the BTDT moms.

The herbal bath is from inhishands.com...-Herbal Afterbirth Bath (Comfrey leaf, Lavender flower, Shepherd's Purse, Uva Ursi leaf, Plaintain leaf, Red Raspberry leaf, Yarrow flower & Sea salt

I ordered it on the reccomendation of a friend who loves it and uses it with her births and babies(has 4 right now.) She adds crushed garlic to the bath water too, but I keep forgeting to ask her why. I assume it's the anti-bacterial nature of it. She says that she thinks it helps her babies cords fall off really fast, and also that she usually has her first pee in there too, since urine is sterile, and she's always afraid of that *first pee* after birth. TMI, maybe, but it all sounds great to me to be honest, but I think I'll make dd get out if I pee.

oh gosh, i forgot all about that first pee....ouch! I might have to look into that. It sounds good. It might not make it here in time though...maybe I'll check the local wellness center to see if they carry it. Thanks!
