Martha Stewart Kids / Baby...i confess...I like it...

Ok, so I am in love with those beautiful pictures, adorable children and simple crafts!

I count the months until the Baby issue comes out (once a year) and the kids one I just bought for the first time.

I of course realize it is loaded with advertisements and has little useful information overall, but I have adapted some cute crafting ideas from the magazines and I can't resist the cool blues and subtle greens on the covers that lure me in...

Anyone else share my guilty secret?

Or am I the lone lover of M.S. Kids and Baby magazine?

:LOL

the first thing I do is tear out all the advertisements that aren't tied to information (this was much easier when it was completely sponsored by gap). and yes i check evey time I am at the store. It comes out 2 times a year (fall and spring). I can't think if I have ever actually made anything out of them though. Oh, the paint job in dds room was from the kids issue. also thier halloween costumes one year. i have trouble finding the stuff she uses (oil cloth anyone : ) and I can never get the recipies to turn out right. com to think about it I guess i have made a lot of stuiff. I also made a knitted sweater. a great first knitting project.

oh, yeah, my baby announcements. I did the diaper one and the mini mobile one (both were huge hits!)

oh, yeah, I love it, even though I've never made anything from it. I really love the MS style, and they come up with such great ideas. I don't think I got the most recent issue, but I think I still have the very first one hanging around somewhere

I admit it, I love martha. Insider trading and all. I was buying the baby magazine before I had a baby.

I admit it, I like the Martha Stewart Baby/Kids magazines too. One of the Baby issues has a great idea for a memory quilt that I plan on making someday, in my spare time (ha,ha). I like the style of the nurseries. Nice and simple. Some nurseries are so over-decorated that it seems you could lose your baby amongst all the different fabric patterns!

I think it's a beautiful magazine, and I like the aesthetic - as in: using old things is cool; durable goods with history are more fun than disposable, trendy stuff; even things you don't get paid for are valuable and worth doing well and doing right.

I get a little creeped out sometimes by the lack of passion, maybe it's a lack of sexuality, in the whole world of Martha. Everything is done with calm detachment, no emotion. It's all so decorative and surface. I don't know.

I'd love to buy a whole load of stuff from the online store, it's all so lovely. And I get inspired by the craft ideas.

Edited to say that I haven't looked at the kids/babies issues, I'm just thinking of the web site, the regular mags, and I've seen the show.

I love Martha Stuart, it almost feels like a dirty secret...I feel more gung ho about supporting her after the whole insider trading thing, it was $35,000 which is like $35 to me. She was persecuted by the media because(I cringe as I write this)she's a woman in a man's world. Look at the whole Enron fiasco-they didn't have a negative made for tv movie made about them.

Another Martha lover here, despite all her negative press!

BTW, I own a few MS Baby mags.
